The Benwiskin Centre

Stayed here for one night in a group of four. As we arrived after 5pm, we needed to contact out of hours staff member. They were very helpful and patient in giving instructions on how to get into the centre.

The room was nice and clean with comfortable beds and good shower. Good value for the price. Kitchen facilities are excellent (although they didn't have a wine bottle opener, hint hint ;) ) and eating area is basic but good.

As we were making dinner we made a fire, complete with turf which was very homely. Unfortunately though two minutes after we had it lit, a local man came in and told us a class was about to start. He was very polite and invited us to join in. If we weren't exhausted after the day's travelling, we probably would have.

The centre is next to Benbulben mountain which is a fantastic sight and I would have liked to stay longer in the Centre to explore the area.

Benwiskin Centre is good value for money, lovely location and very nice staff. I would stay here again and would recommend. Just hope the bottle opener is there next time! :-)

clean beautiful setting. Unfortunately they hire out the common facilites to private events, so you may be left deprived of common room. tv fire, wifi access, obile phone reception, dining room and even kitchen during your stay. when i went the common room was constantly hired out to religious/spiritual groups. leaving me uncomfortable. the second night it was hired out for a spiritual observance and all night party. you could certainly not have stayed there with children.
could have been a lovely stay apart from this. check private bookings before you go as they will not tell you!!

Hi, following our correspondence regarding your recent stay here at the Centre, I hope I have now addressed your concerns.

As mentioned, the other guests that were staying on the 2nd night of your booking, had not provided full details as to their planned activities whilst staying here. Had we had this knowledge, the group would have been advised that they needed to hire the whole Centre privately.

It is important that all our guests enjoy what the Centre has to offer and the tranquility of the area and I am sorry that you did not benefit from this during your stay. We are fortunate to receive very positive feedback from our guests and you have since mentioned that what you experienced does not appear to be a common experience.

Hopefully you will come back and enjoy a more relaxed break at the Centre some time in the future.

Regards.

This is a marvellous hostel. I stayed with a friend for a few days in August. We cycled round the area and climbed up Benbulben. We couldn´t have stayed in a better place. The rooms are clean and comfortable with en suite bathrooms and extra bathrooms in the corridor. The kitchen has every possible domestic appliance with two cookers. There´s a sweet dining room and an enormous entertainment room with large flat TV screen, big turf fire. Everyone who stays here seems to be interested in walking and very respectful of other lodgers. I will definitely return.

Room Tip: Get a double en suite

We had a super weekend. The hostel was comfortable and had everything we needed. Our room was perfect- big enough for all 4 of us (2 adults and 2 young kids), lovely and clean with an ensuite. Staff were very friendly. The kids loved the whole place especially the garden. We would love to stay there again.

We stayed just one night in The Benwisken Centre but its location in the heart of the mountains surrounded by gardens makes it a tranquil and picturesque place to stay. The Centre staff were very hospital & friendly.
The centre is very well equipped with everything you need (including toys for the kids)! And everything was very clean too.

My girlfriend and I stayed in the Benwiskin Centre for 9 days. We are still moved by the warm kindness of the staff and the breath taking nature around the Centre. The employees do not hesitate to do everything possible to ensure that you as a guest have a great time at the Centre and have always an open ear for your concerns. As i already mentioned the Centre is surrounded by a beautiful diversified nature (Mountains, Beaches, Cliffs and meadows/pastures) that gives you the possibility of enjoying multiple spectular walking and biking trails as well as for e.g. some horse riding tours at the occean. I highly recommend this place to people that are looking for a calm and peacefull environment to get in touch with nature. I am very thankful for the wonderfull time at the hostel and look forward for the next stay their.
