I just cannot put into words the wonderful surprise that was Gallán Mór. Lorna and Noel have a wonderful property and one (or both?) of them has/have unrivalled taste and that's from colour schemes, to bed linen, to light fittings, to bathrooms and of course breakfast. Try the Gallán Mór signature breakfast, beats a full Irish any day. They booked us into Blairs Cove for dinner, 99.999% perfect - almost as good as Gallán Mór ! Oh, I forgot, Sheeps Head is gorgeous ! Elizabeth Charlesworth.

Room Tip: They are all first class. We had the North room - no view of the sea, but it didn't matter as th...

We were 2 families travelling together for a long weekend in one of our favourite places in the world. We normally stay at another excellent B&B on the Mizen Head Peninsular but they weren't able to accommodate a group our size. It was to our great good fortune that we discovered there was another fabulous and quite new alternative just a little way down the Sheep's Head Peninsular. Because we took all 4 of their rooms we had the added benefit of being in a 'home from home' environment but with all the added upside of someone else making the beds and cooking sensational breakfasts for us. The rooms had been well thought out and the most important issue of all for a bedroom was perfect - namely amazingly comfortable beds with gorgeous, high thread count linen. Each room had a decent sized wet room style shower set up and the pressure was notably good. Thing that turned this from a good stay to a great stay were a myriad of personal, thoughtful and 'extra mile' touches by the charming owners Noel and Lorna. These included things like lighting their stylish wood burner for us on both saturday and Sunday evenings in the late afternoon so as we could have a leisurely and cozy time with some pre dinner drinks that we had bought in (and they had kindly chilled) before going out to dinner. This was a great treat but was surpassed by the fact that whilst we were out all evening they had kept popping back into the guest lounge to top it up with peat and logs so as it was 'toasty' for when we arrive back at Gallan Mor at the end of our evening out. How thoughtful is that? They also brought over the DVD player that is in their self catering cottage so that the kids could have some down time from the rain and watch a film in their bedroom and they welcomed us on arrival with home baked biscuits, lemon drizzle cake and lashings of warming tea. The setting, the furnishings, the comfort and the ambience are as superb as previously and consistently mentioned since they opened and you find yourself constantly thinking that all B&B's should be just like this - but they aren't - even in extremely hospitable County Cork. Why is that? Why is it so striking when lovely and considerate hosts, with a 'nothing's too much trouble' attitude and a keen eye for detail and the extra mile seem to be the exception and not the rule. For any B&B owners out there struggling to breathe life into their own particular Celtic Tiger, myself and my 2 family group would recommend a visit to the wonderful Gallan Mor to see how it can be done and dare I say it, should be done. In the immortal words of Tripadvisor, "we will be back".

Room Tip: West, East and South have sea views. East and West are larger than South. They also have larger beds...

One of the most beautiful places I've ever stayed. Noel and Lorna are really great hosts. On our arrival they welcomed us with tea and freshly baked scones. Nicely decorated and comfortable rooms. The breakfast is overwhelming!

We had a wonderful weekend at Gallan Mór in March 2014. We stayed in the cottage attached to the bed & breakfast and it was absolutely perfect. We were greeted by Noel and Lorna on arrival who were so pleasant and welcoming. Along with the warm welcome, Lorna provided us with hot home made brown bread, butter, milk and eggs. The cottage was very comfortable for us (6 adults) and had a very relaxing vibe. The view from Gallan Mór is so beautiful and there are many amazing walks near by. We enjoyed every minute of our stay and will definitely return.

We stayed in Gallan Mor for one night and I wish it was more. Starting with a warm welcome from Lorna we were given a tour of the house (which is very stylish and beautiful) with little pieces of antique furniture to give the cottage feel. Our North room was downstairs, beautifully decorated with large wet room and 4 poster bed. + breakfast in Gallan Mor is an experience itself with beautiful views .. many thanks Noel & Lorna , you are truly great hosts.

In brief: This little gem in a wonderful location , with truly amazing views and enough privacy to feel like a hotel.Stay in Gallan Mor and eat in Blairscove and you are going to have an amazing holiday ;-)

See oyu again,
Katrina & Breon

Room Tip: All rooms are beautiful, but sea view rooms are particularly nice if you are going to be spending so...

I stay in the Durrus area regularly, and Gallan Mor has one of the warmest welcomes you could wish for. Despite being a new business, they behave like old hands. My room was small but well appointed and very comfortable. I had a bit of difficulty in finding the place in the dark and rain, but one quick phone call sorted it out quickly! They are so friendly, with a cup of tea and home made biscuits to welcome you. On the second night, fellow guests were already back for their second stay! I didn't take full advantage of the excellent breakfast on offer, as I was doing a cookery course, but I advise you to fill your boots! Not cheap, but well worth the money. I will be staying again.

Room Tip: If you have mobility issues, tell them beforehand. The bed in my room was very high off the ground...

Just returned from two days at this outstanding Bed & Breakfast. Lorna & Noel are welcome hosts, they think of everything and have created something special in this part of Ireland. Our room was comfortable & everything was well presented. Our breakfast was freshly prepared, with locally sourced produce and plentiful. We certainly did try "Dutch Baby" with Lorna's new twist of serving it with raspberries, it is a must! We cannot say enough about the location, views and peace & quiet apart from that we will return!

Room Tip: All rooms are of a very high standard.
