“a dark lake”
Reviewed 10 March 2012

The depth of the lough is unknown. It is always cold and the colour is dark because of the peat. Little life thrives in this water.
The path down isn't long but very stony and should only be attempted if wearing strong footwear. There are many legends about Bay Lough; one being the story of Petticoat Loose .. look it up!

“Beautiful Mountain Lake”
Reviewed 29 February 2012

Bay Lough is truly a natural wonder. A very beautiful lake in the midst of the Knockmealdown mountains. A wonderful walk down to this beautiful, placid lake. A must for all the family and it's totally free. What more could you ask for?
