Visited Dunbrody House with no booking and was advised the restaurant was fully booked, which was fine. However it was the horrible attitude of the staff , I think it was the manager telling it would be an hour for the bar food to be prepared and that we could try the pub that is associated with the hotel. We went down to the pub and ordered our food. 45 minutes later we still had not been served and diners who arrived after us were served before us. Once again we were met with rude staff and couldn't wait any longer so demanded a refund. The wine I ordere was €8.50 and was muck. Very disappointed. Never again.

Very pretty setting, welcoming staff. Some of the food was outstanding (e.g., scallops, buttermilk pancakes), other was mediocre (hake.) The hotel itself is frayed around the edges-could really use a sprucing up. The bed and room were pretty comfortable, the view from the room was lovely. The blaring lounge music which permeates the first floor rooms was jarring and off putting. It has potential but needs a lot of TLC to reach it.

I was actually quite apprehensive about this stay as the online reviews were incredibly mixed but I have to say that we had a lovely time. All the staff were very welcoming and extremely professional. On arrival we were upgraded to a superior room overlooking the garden which was a nice touch but there are no tea/coffee facilities in the room, which was a pity. Dinner was fine, a little underwhelming given their prices but the room and staff ensured it was all very pleasant. "The Local Pub" is fun and we enjoyed a few drinks there after dinner. It is a really lovely place but it would benefit from some love and attention - there are huge weeds in the flower beds, empty glasses in the drive way were still there the next morning and the windows are not sparkling....added to that the lack of a pool and gym would probably not entice me back on another weekend away but for a very quiet time in a beautiful part of the country, it has alot going for it.

Just back from a lovely weekend break at Dunbrody - third time to stay there. Staff are as warm and friendly as ever - efficient and welcoming. Food good especially in the bar. The house has suffered a little from lack of investment during the downturn and although comfortable and warm is bit tired around the edges. Would be nice to have coffee and tea making facilities in the bedrooms and power showers in the bathroom. Nonetheless, it was a pleasure to stay there - loved the birdsong and the quietness of the countryside, the bunny rabbits on the lawn and the great staff. Dunbrody is set in wonderful countryside with Hook Head and Duncannon beaches nearby for bracing walks. Great place for a short break.

Room Tip: A little extra for a top floor suite with balcony is well worth it

We stayed here for one night & we were not disappointed. It was so different to the modern hotels. It was like a stay at my Grandparents house which never ever disappointed me. It was so cosy & the service was excellent. The food was beautiful. My husband did think we would have more of a choice but what we ordered was beautiful. We had no complaints what so ever. I did think it was a little over priced as 1 nights dinner & breakfast was around €300 but it was a beautiful relaxing treat & would love to go back again. All in all we were very pleased.

My family and myself which comprised of five adults and one child had afternoon tea at Dunbrody house. We found the room that we were served tea in quite small for six people. Food was only average compared to the last time we had tea there. Overall we felt quite cramped in that room, and what should have been an enjoyable afternoon tea was quite disappointing.

We didn't stay in Dunbrody House as it was booked up at the time of our visit. However, we had the bar food one night and the 7 course tasting menu the following night. Both were disappointing. The tasting menu was quite bland. The lamb course was tasty but other than that the food was not hot when it was served and there was very little flavour throughout. The staff were lovely and the building and gardens are beautiful but the food was very disappointing.
