We stayed here for the "Utter Luxury" package, which you can see from
the hotel's website does not come cheap. However, the experience was magnificent. The food is of an extremely high quality - by that I mean breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner, the staff are extremely friendly (every day the manageress asked us how we were enjoying our stay and if we needed anything), our room was beautiful and the grounds and hotel are really lovely. There was absolutely nothing that I can complain about at all.

I don't understand the comment of a previous reviewer that only celebrities need apply. I had been afraid of that but it was not the case at all.

Very highly recommended, though it comes at a price!!!

We only stayed at this property for 1 night but it was magical. The service was impeccable and the public rooms beautiful. Our room wasn't that fabulous and some pieces of furniture could be changed. The highlight was dinner. We sat by the window, ordered the wine-pairing menu and it snowed on cue. Buckets and buckets of snow while we ate. It could not have been a better moment and a great memory of our vacation. We also met a great Irish couple from Dublin and had our first taste of Irish heart and hospitality.

I have just returned from a 3 day mid week break in the hotel and I am amazed at the comments in the last post. The hotel staff could not have been nicer-reception/dining room/cleaners etc were all very friendly and could not do enough for you.The friendly ambience of the place is one of the strengths of the hotel.
The hotel itself is an early 19th century country house in a large estate. The entrance hall/dining room and all the public areas have been beautifully refurbished. The bedroooms are nice though,in our room, the storage area for clothes could have been better. The bathroom was excellent with bath robes supplied . The food ,as to be expected ,was excellent. I have stayed in 4 and 5 star hotels in France and Italy and the food at breakfast and dinner was on a par with the best anywhere. The dinner is not for those who like quantity. The style is ' nouvelle cuisine' with emphasis not only on taste but on presentation. If I have a quibble it is that at 60 euro for 3 courses the meal is somewhat pricey. It is 48 euro for 2 courses .There is a tasting menu of about 7 courses for ,I think,75 euro. So eating is expensive.Don't go the hotel if you have to count your pennies. We had been given a present of a voucher for 200 euro which helped to pay our bill! So overall an impressive hotel with an extremely friendly staff and beautiful food served in beautiful surroundings. If you want a quiet ,restful break Dunbrody might be the place for you.

Have to say first that we only ate there! Thankfully. We called in the hope of sampling the much hyped cuisine and atmosphere (in advance of staying sometime soon) of the hotel, and found good food admittedly, but cold, cold welcome indeed. On entry we asked after food, sandwiches etc, as it wasn’t a mealtime, and received a fishy stare and a statement "I'll have to check": Fair enough. Another couple entered behind us: plummy "shootin' fishin'" types. When the receptionist returned she obviously found the tweedy types irresistible as she began to not talk, or explain, but grovel to them straight away - The dead fish had come alive! In short: they were handed menus first, served first, and even got real leaf tea rather than tea bags (spotted them plying the strainer – I even know what one is for, and wouldn’t have minded demonstrating)! So if you look like a normal Irish person (and have not featured in the pages of Hello! or VIP of late), expect to directed to the servant’s entrance, or better still go somewhere they like your money and manners better than your accent.

Myself and my girlfriend decided to have a weekend of luxury. We stayed from the Friday to the Monday and returned to our daily routine totally rested and spoiled on fine food, service and scenery.
From the lovely welcome and our beautiful suite to the service of the friendly and unobtrusive staff the whole stay was perfect.
The spa is exactly how one should be, the epitome of relaxation. We both had a massage (1hour seemed like only minutes unfortunately!), were then treated to a cooling sorbet and delicious fondant to relax afterwards.
The restaurant deserves a full review of its own. Suffice to say it was food prepared, presented and as tasty as you would get from only the finest Ireland has to offer.

Highly highly hily recomended!

A beautiful place with lovely gardens. The spa offered wonderful treatments. We did a great BBQ cookery course at the cookery school on site. The chef was excellent.
The food in the hotel restaurant was fantastic.

My husband and I stayed in Dunbrody over Easter this year and we were not disappointed with our choice! We spent the day taking a cookery course in the delightful Cookery School which was most enjoyable and useful. We had a delux room with a beautiful view over the garden and we were delighted with it. The bed was very comfortable and we loved the room. The bathroom could do with some modernising but this is easily overlooked given that we were very happy with everything else. Dinner in the restaurant was very special, the food was really good and the wine list extensive. The gardens are very well kept and a pleasure to walk around. Hook Head and the quaint towns Duncannon and Arthurstown are great for walks. We really enjoyed our stay in Dunbrody and would go back in a flash!
