“Overpriced for what you get”

We stayed here for a friend's wedding, yes it's in a lovely location and is very convenient for weddings taking place there, however quality and price do not match up here. Exceptionally poor shower in our room, old and unmaintained fixtures, fittings and decorating throughout.

We attended a wedding here this month. The hotel and garden loos amazing especially in photos. We stayed in one of the lodges, which is basically a house. It had 2 en-suite bedrooms. I can't fault the lodges at all. The food was lovely and it was quick service all night.
The staff took orders for breakfast even after breakfast time at no extra cost. It could do with being a bit cleaner, I was served a drink with a fly in it.

We held our wedding here a few weeks ago and had an amazing day. I will begin with some of the issues we had with the venue, as advice for other couples and not to take away from choosing this hotel as a wedding venue: our main issue was that the colour of our wedding was pink/ coral but we were horrified when we walked into our dining room to orange sashes on all dining chairs, despite sending a picture of the colour we were using and many discussions, we also arranged for a cake to be brought out for my Mams 60th that came out and was plonked beside our wedding cake without giving it to my mam to blow out the candles, even though my husband had double checked that they were ready to go with it, and our last issue was that my mother in law did not have a room to go to when she decided to go to bed, we are still dismayed at how such a thing could have happened.
Despite the above we had a wonderful day and lead up to the wedding. Our first wedding coordinator Tina was brilliant to deal with, she always made us feel at ease with our plans. Leading up to the day we dealt a lot with Ian, who was wonderful, when we were not happy with the first tasting of our main meal, he allowed us to come down again and reassured us the food would be great on the day, it was lovely on the second tasting and even better on the day itself, with many compliments being expressed to us by our guests. Anything we wanted to do with bouncing castle, photos, candles and the likes he made it seem like it was no hassle to them and they were all displayed better than we thought. The venue itself is fabulous, it is exactly what we were looking for, a private country house for just our wedding guests. The rooms and lodges were beautiful and very comfortable. The staff were superb, which again was communicated to us by quiet a few guests, the service during the meal seemed to run very smoothly, the next morning some guests arrived late for breakfast with staff taking orders from them and not charging anything extra. The problems we had were not noticed by our guests but upset us because we had put a lot of thought into our wedding and for the colour to be wrong at the venue was very disappointing. As a whole we had a great day and would recommend this hotel as a wedding venue.

Attended family do at Ballykealey Manor House last weekend. In the dining area you felt shot back in history as it was to live in the house at that time. Did not have a tour of the house but I,d say there would be great stories to tell. Lovely relaxing atmosphere and fantastic food with great choice. Would not mind staying a night here either. Walking around the house there is leafy grounds with fountain and sitting area to the back plus function room with dance floor that hosts Weddings. There is also a large bright bar/lounge area on the ground level next to reception. Looking to get away from a busy life this is the place.

Room Tip: Need a car to get here or bus to Ballon village.:)

We had our wedding at Ballykealey Manor on Saturday May 17th. The sun was shining and the venue was in sparkling condition. From the very beginning we were delighted to have picked Ballykealey, and felt we had stumbled across a bit of a gem. The manor house is full of character, the bedrooms are all unique, and the lodges available on the grounds were perfect for wedding guests. The grounds around Ballykealey gave us plenty of photo opportunities, and we also went to beautiful Altamont Gardens down the road for more photos. The management and staff were really top class - especially their wedding coordinator Tricia who was a pleasure to deal with when planning out the wedding. Most importantly, our guests were very happy with the menu and delicious food. A thoroughly recommended wedding venue.

Attended evening wedding sat 24th and didn't take my coat off all evening, the cold was un believable. I ordered coffee and was told no coffee cups so was given a mug which I can imagine was belonging to staff (blue) and asked for sugar and was told sugar jar was empty only one lump left . Had heard it was a cold place but had to witness it for myself, for gods sake turn on heating !!!

I brought my parents to Ballykealy Manor for their anniversary on Sunday, January 19th. We were placed in the dining room towards the rear beside the fire. it was gorgeous. The room has French doors and beautifully restored mouldings on the ceiling.

We ordered the blade of beef (cooked for 8 hours) which fell off the fork, beef steak and sea bass (on a beautiful risotto - delicious). Apart from slight over seasoning (a bit too much salt), we thoroughly enjoyed the food. The staff were extremely attentive and the cost was very economical.

I would recommend this venue wholeheartedly.
