La Souqueto is a gem of a find, a small family-run B&B, a tall townhouse nestled coolly and quietly in a teeny-tiny street in the village of Mirepeisset. We travelled there with our two young sons, aged 8 and 5 and hosts, Mel and Jon could not have been more accommodating. The hotel itself is charming, bursting with vintage finds and a collection of wonderful artworks. Our bedroom was extremely comfortable, with a sparkling, modern bathroom befitting of a up-market trendy boutique-hotel establishment! The local restaurant was wonderful and the (very) nearby swimming hole was the perfect way to cool-off after a day visiting the delights of the surrounding area and the Canal du Midi. Breakfast was a simple fare of local produce, and eaten in the beautifully restored pig-barn (!) complete with the conversation starter of a roman well, discovered during the building's extensive renovations!
Parking is a short hop from the front door and there is a small courtyard in which to relax and absorb the tranquil atmosphere.
We would thoroughly recommend this gorgeous place and hope to return for many years to come.

Had a superb time staying in this very special bed and breakfast. The house has been beautifully restored and was the perfect base for exploring this area of France. The owners, Mel and Jon, could not have been more welcoming. They suggested some excellent day trips, such as great day out at the nearby medieval town of Minerve - included a walk down the gorge to a cave, followed by a memorable lunch. Also particularly enjoyed the market in Olonzac and some excellent wine-tasting at local vinyards! Spent a great day cycling along the Canal du Midi which is minutes away. So much still to see and do - will be visiting again soon.

Loved our stay in this charming and 'very French' bed and breakfast in this beautiful area of France. So much to see and do here. The scenery in this area is breathtaking and we particularly enjoyed a day's visit to the old medieval town of Minerve and some lovely walks in the mountains. La Souqueto is tastefully decorated in typical French style, the bedrooms all beautifully furnished and my bed was so comfortable I had the best sleep in ages! The ensuite was huge with a lovely big walk in shower and separate bathtub to relax in if you preferred. Mel and Jon the owners couldn't have been more friendly and welcoming and did their best to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. They seemed extremely knowledgeable about the area so were able to offer us plenty of tips. Breakfasts were freshly prepared with local produce and an added bonus was the restaurant just a few steps away which served excellent food at very reasonable prices. A wonderful relaxing break. Look forward to coming back here again.

We had a fantastic time in this beautifully located typically french rural village. the welcome we recieved was inviting and relaxed. It is a perfect location to chill, walk and enjoy the best that France has to offer. Some delicious healthy and wholesome cuisine and fine locally sourced wines. So much to see here I'll definately be looking forward to returning soon. The house was delightfully decorated every room had its own unique style.Thank you to Mel and Jon.

Mel and Jon organised where we could go, where we could eat and it was all perfect. The best walking area high in mushroom and truffle country with views to die for, going to Minerve, the old capital of Minervois region- amazing caves and views - geological interest as well as shopping - the restaurant 3 doors from their beautiful B and B was excellent and the Sunday morning market in neighbouring town was well worth visiting for food and fashion. They will always help you make the most of your time there.

Room Tip: they are all different, so choose what you want. All are quiet with good light and aspect. Ours had...

Mel, Jon and La Souqueto had us at "Bonjour". From the minute we walked in the door (slightly smelly after our hike in the Pyrenees), we were looked after like old friends. Mel & Jon helped us explore the area, even lending us their GPS and guidebook so we wouldn't get lost! The bedroom and bathroom were gorgeous, comfortable and filled with everything we could ask for. Breakfast was a taste of the region, with something different every day. We took a picnic to the local swimming hole - a couple of minutes walk from the house. And we were able to bask in the sunny evenings with a glass of local wine on the rooftop balcony. But while it was the surroundings drew us in, it's the company we stayed for. And yes, we stayed an extra night because we loved it so much!

Tucked away in the beautiful quiet village of Mirepeisset next to the 'canal du midi 'you will be welcomed to La Souqueto like old friends. The owners Jon & Mel are a cut above the rest. Nothing is too much trouble & they willingly give their local knowledge to ensure you can experience as much of the beautiful surrounding area as possible. From the beach to the mountains & all thats in between. The rooms are spotless, simply but stylishly decorated with very comfortable beds. Breakfast is a feast of local produce, delicious. They have a delightful newly restored boat moored on the Canal just a short & very pleasant walk away. We highly recommend a trip with 'Captain Jon' at the helm! We had a wonderful few days here and will definitely be returning, hopefully very soon. We highly recommend this absolute gem La Souqueto.
