“Great location, great service, great accommodation”
Reviewed 4 April 2013

First, I recommend to book this camping directly and not through booking.com. It seems like booking.com does not show all available options. We booked a mobile home for 3 people, because there was no any available for 2 people. When I contacted the camping, they said that they do have available housing for 2, and that the booking that I made does not include kitchen. Luckily, we were able to change our booking with no problem.

We arrived at 1 am, and within 5 minutes we were already in our accommodation.

We got a mobile home, which was actually able to accommodate 4 people - one bedroom with double bed and one with 2 single beds. Kitchen was fully equipped and was actually very comfortable, so we really enjoyed staying there during a heavy raining evening. Heating was very efficient, so with just 8 - 10 degrees outside, we could wear t-shirts inside. Only the floor was cold, so either be ready to wear shoes, or just some slippers would solve the problem. We had no problem with hot water. There were no towels, but we brought our own after reading the reviews :)

There is also a small market at the reception, where one can buy some basic things, which is very convenient if you all of a sudden crave some chocolate to your tea, or just forgot to buy some juice or wine for your dinner.

Generally, very pleasant experience, even though the weather was rainy most of the time. I think without kitchen it would be hard. Very friendly stuff.

Room Tip: Take a kitchen if you expect rainy weather.

We stayed in a cabin at the campsite for 4 nights - it was absolutely no frills but fit the bill for our stay. The cabin got pretty hot without A/C, fan etc in the middle of July...but you get what you pay for really. There isn't a lot in the area but there is a bus stop right at the door and within 30 mins you are in Venice. There is a restaurant onsite (which wasn't too bad) and a small shop for cold drinks etc. The one downside was we had a large group of German students sprawled out on the grass right at our door - no tents, just semi-comatose youngsters and rubbish, rubbish, rubbish! Not the fault of the campsite of course :-)

The place was clean and the staff was helpful. The best thing is that their restaurant serves reasonably priced food in the evening. I stayed in a two-bed ensuite and it was good value. You can also avoid the hassle from locating your accommodation among the tiny streets on the island.
The only down side is that you have to take a bus to get there and since I can't speak Italian, I had to either ask the driver to tell me where to get off (in Italian!). The feeling of uncertainty isn't that pleasant. NB: the area of the hostel is Oriago.

This campsite is quiet but with the added gem of being right on the public transport route to Venice. The bus comes twice an hour and is very fairly priced (10 euros for two people on a return ticket).

The showers were hot on occasion but as soon as others were in the shower block it turned very cold. Furthermore there were not enough of them (i had a long wait one morning). One negative item was the toilets. On my last morning, two of the toilets were blocked up and this was not solved whilst we were there (3/4 hours after the initial visit). This campsite offers everything that you need as a backpacker camper.

The distance between tents and the camping places could be better. We found that there were not enough car parking places for all of the tents in our area and this caused a little frustration to some of our neighbours.

The staff are friendly and helpful.

There is a well priced store on site selling all of the basics that you might need. The bread in the morning is of excellent quality and nothing was severely overpriced (in comparison to other campsites around Venice).

This campground is just what we were fater. We didn't want to waste money on 'animations, pools or giant karaoke bars'. We wanted something close to Venice on a public transport route ad that's what we got. Facilities are clean and modern with plenty of showers, sinks etc, a camp kitchen with fridge, stove etc and a very good (and cheap) restaurant.

Liked the fact that camping area is separate to camper vans and caravans so ground is not compacted and churned up. Electricity included in price. Fantastic mini market (really almost a supermarket) and everything in it is so cheap that we didn't bother to look elsewhere - lots of variety and emergency items such as mossie repellant and coils (which you will need - remember, Venice is built on a swamp)

Bus is right outside the door and only 1.10e each way. You can but tickets at the camp ground and we found them very helpful in general. There was a local transport strike on the 2nd day we stayed so that had new timetables for us and gave advice on best options to get to Venice.

If you want something away from the tour buses and hype - just normal camping, this is the place for you

stayed in this summer camp for 3 days with my friends, when we went to Venice to just explore this beautiful city. its about 20 mins away from the city. good and cheap transportation available to the main square from the camp. for the price it was worth it.
make sure you ask the driver to stop at Serenissima or you will have to walk about 0.3 KM if you miss the stop.

cabins were smaller but not really bad for bechlors stay. BAsic facilities were provided including sheets, blankets and pillows. we had a attached toliet and bathroom inside our cabin. But there was some problem with shower. Water from the shower wasn't always hot. Cabin was neat and clean.

We arrived in the mid afternoon and needed a convenient place to park the motorhome to stay the night. This place was great, and right next to a main bus to Venice that took 20 minutes going in (longer coming out, which confused us). They don't have a pool, but we didn't plan to stay long, just visit Venice, spend the night, and get going again.

There was a kids play area that my 7 year old enjoyed. The morning cappucino at the cafe was good, and they have a nice little store with some little inexpensive Morano glass that the kids chose for souvineers. Staff is really friendly and nice, and bathrooms were clean and good. Would stay here again if ever in the area for camping or motorhoming.

  • Liked — flat, clean, convenient, friendly staff
  • Disliked — no pool, but not so needed here
  • Tips/Secrets — figure out the return bus from Venice before going in!
