“Very friendly place to stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 July 2014

Decided to visit Port Isaac and looked for a place with good parking, thank goodness I found this place. The owner and his son are great people and make you very welcome when you find them. Yes, I have read reviews which say the hotel is dated, but so is the whole area, it is history we visit not modern glass and polished marble. Is it far away? I read reviews which say that, but far away from where? It is in the middle of a number of great places to visit so you have choice. There are walks you can take down to the beach or ask the owners and they can give good advice on where to visit and at what time.
The breakfast is fantastic as are the evening meals and you can't beat the prices anywhere.
We found our room to be clean and very comfortable although we did not stay there much as they have a bar and Solon on the premises.

Room Tip: Get a sea view

Stayed 2 nights in early July, family of four + dog.
We had 2 bed apartment which exceeded expectations, plenty of space with own garden and all mod cons and view down to the sea.
Apartment Very clean and comfortable.
Owners very polite and helpful,
Pub serves good value for money
food.
Would definitely return as is in a great location.

This is in a very quiet location which is a plus point for us, but there is nothing around it, large car park. 70s style building with flat roof, very dated. On the entrance, there is a very stale doggy smell, the carpets are dated and the entrance could be so much more welcoming. No reception but the guy from the bar took us up to room 3. Beautiful view - countryside and a sea view, if leant out of the window. Room was very tired, sliding teak wardrobes. However, new bed head, bed side cabinets in shaker style. Refurbed bathroom, with shower and bath. Small TV, which was wall mounted and a little high up. No accommodation info in the room. Went for a walk on the adjoining footpath (website mentions walk to sea) which was a nightmare, path led to nowhere and was not maintained. Although our room was over the car park, it was not too noisy. The hotel is dog friendly, which was not a problem for us, but don't think it would help people who are not doggy people, as there is definitely a strange smell to the building. Bed comfy, but could have better quality linens. Light curtains, could be darker. Breakfast 8 - 9am, which was better. Served in dining room, which was like going back in time, 70s style, teak, Ercol type furniture. Only one girl on service, but she did really well. Cooked breakfast, tinned mushrooms! Nice bacon and edible sausage. Good strong coffee.
We paid £126 for 2 nights B&B. The Inn offers food, but we did not eat here. We suggested that the owners put a menu in the rooms, and perhaps offer 10% discount for residents eating in. We actually ate fish and chips at the local chip shop, which were very disappointing, and had we thought about it, we would probably have eaten at the restaurant. Good free wifi.
Overall, the Inn is very tired and with a little updating could be better. If we were in the area, we would return as the views are beautiful and it was very quiet, but would not rush back.

I booked this for four people for one night, during a flying visit to Cornwall. It was on a bed and breakfast tariff. The staff were very welcoming and the two bedrom apartment was clean and comfortable. We had an evening meal here, which was very good, as was the breakfast. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to others, especially as they took dogs, which not every establishment does. Good views across to the sea was an added attraction.

As part of our holiday in Cornwall and Devon we stayed for one night at the Poldark Inn. Rooms were very comfortable and clean. Staff very helpful, pleasant and welcoming. Food was to a good standard with plenty of variety. Would not hesitate to book again as they were dog friendly.

Absolutely love this place! We stayed here for a long weekend in April with our pooch and booked our next trip back before we left.
All staff are warm and welcoming and they couldn't have been more dog friendly if they tried.

We stayed for two nights last weekend an an Living Social Deal. The superior double had a newly re-furbed bathroom and was well appointed and very clean, bright and verycomfy.

The whole Inn was a pleasant place set in a quiet and peaceful location, (we could see the sea from our room too, which was an added benefit).

The location was superb for what we wanted, with easy access to all the major attractions locally (Port Isaac, Tintagel, Slaughterbridge etc).

All of the staff were excellent, really friendly, accommodating and willing to help & please,.The bar and dining room were very tidy and had a good relaxed atmosphere. The kitchen prepared excellent food from a varied menu and we were supplied with a great breakfast too.. all round a great value for money experience...

Thanks Adrian & Tracey..

We would definitely visit again :)

Room Tip: Room 5 was the Superior double we had
