We have just returned from our best ever holiday! The service from the staff was good, the bed was so comfy. amenities were excellent,we had a beach party night that was unbelievable, the two singers Rob Zii & phyness were excellent, the other entertainment was not so good but there was always the coffee bar to have a chat. The Adult pool and bar at the top was a great atmosphere to meet. We loved the water sports, the staff were lovely and we always felt that safety was important, Gavin (Bob) and Elton were brilliant. We went on a boat trip with Joy Excursions and had the best time ever, if you go to St. James you must go, you wont be disappointed, JJ is the one you need to see, they will really look after you!The best restaurant in our opinion was Morgan's Pier, the food in Palms could be better. Kim was so helpful informing on what I could eat and not as I had an allergy , treetops Pizza & Pasta was good food, staff there were attentive..Daina the deputy manager was a star as I had an incident that needed sorting out and sort it out she did.with professionalism but with a personal touch! Loved it!.

Room Tip: 704 has a sea view, pool view

We have a teenager with us and when we arrived we were told he was not allowed in the over 18 pool. Fair enough! However I was asked to exit the pool with the swim up bar with him as “minors not allowed “which was a bit embarrassing as I was not told that on arrival. This was apparently due to safety concerns with people getting drunk at the bar. I was with him and ordering two non alcoholic drinks. However, adults are allowed to drink alcohol in the pool right next door which we were told was for us to use with our son. Basically it’s okay for adults to drink alcohol and get rowdy in every pool, but he is not allowed into the pool with the bar in it. The family pool is more for small children, so they are not catering for teenagers. My son is pretty mature as he has much older siblings and we think this hotel is inconsistent in its approach. I would be happier if there was a no alcohol rule in the second pool that does not have a bar if they are truly worried about safety. That would make more sense to me as an observer.
We had picked a quiet time to go into the swim up bar as we are not crazy!!

Not sure we would have come if we had known in advance. We have been to other countries and resorts where he has been able to sit at a swim up bar and we have never had a problem as we stay with him or he’s had his older siblings with him. We raised it as an issue with management but were told that they are not going to change the rule which is their perogative.
My husband remarked yesterday to a member of staff that it was a wonderful day and he got the response that “it would be in 20 minutes when I am off shift” , which was slightly shocking as in front of other guests. Not very appropriate even if it was meant as a joke. We have spent quite a lot of money to stay here.
I’m not a serial complainer, as try to see things from other viewpoints, but feel that the hotel needs to be more consistent in its approach if it is truly worried about pool safety and alcohol. Better signs might help rather than just written on the blackboard in the pool which you can only read once you are in the bar area and a “no alcohol” sign in the second pool to keep things safer and less inconsistent.
Good luck with policing the adults!
Otherwise the resort is very nice and plenty of things to do and room is very comfortable.

Omg I went there 15 years and as a fine wine it got better with age.
The staff are so friendly and only want to help there are lots of restaurants all brilliant we tried them all apart from the posh one.
And sharon the boss what a pleasure to deal with even if there was a problem it was fixed straight away.
The pizza restaurant was brilliant for the kids and plenty of room around the pool no need for the uk early morning towel reserve.
Lunch was excellent with loads of choice and all you had to do was book a meal at the restaurant you wanted with valerie(did I get it right).
My kids loved it and didn’t want to talk so used the golf carts all the time and the water sports we so good and the staff so helpful well worth the 10hour flight

We had an overall lovely stay but there were several things that let us down for the price that we paid, and I feel that there are many improvements that could be made to make the overall experience much better.

Room:
We stayed in a deluxe oceanview room, which I think is definitely worth the extra cost. It had a beautiful view and was spacious. It was also amongst the only rooms wifi enabled (these as well as the oceanview suites i believe). I find it outrageous that they are charging $50 per week per device for wifi, on top of the money paid for this resort and on top of the extra paid for the room. It is crazy. They also do not stock your fridge with anything, not even water, and room service is ridiculously pricey - something like an $8 fee for ordering, plus 10% tax and 10% service charge! This is even worse when considering the fact that no food on the resort can be taken away at all.

Staff:
Staff were overall amazing and really great service, very warm and welcoming.

Pools/Beach:
All very well kept and nice. Especially recommend the hilltop adults only pool - the member of staff there was always amazing! It has the most beautiful view. However, I imagine in peak season all the pools are very busy as they are quite small and there is not a lot of space/loungers surrounding. Beach also very small, water not very clear compared to other beaches we visited, lots of seaweed when we were there.

Entertainment:
The evening entertainment left a lot to be desired. Started at 9 and ended at 11, waiting around for it to start felt like a chore and most nights it was just a singer or a band, nothing particularly exciting. The one exception to this is the Wednesday night beach party which is really great fun with so much effort put into it.

Food/Restaurants:
This was by far the least favourite part of our stay. We are both vegetarian and we did not feel accommodated for at many instances of our vacation. We booked this hotel specifically because it advertises as 6 restaurants so we thought we would have plenty of choice. In reality, most nights we had choice of 1 restaurant, the buffet, or pay $35 dollars each at our all inclusive holiday to dine at their 'upscale' restaurant.
One night we had a reservation at the Italian and it was cancelled and moved to their seafood pier restauraunt half an hour before as there were not enough reservations, the buffet being seafood themed that night meant we were stuck with nothing to eat.
This was also not the first time this had happened, as on our first night it was explained to us that the beach BBQ would be the only place open for us to eat and upon us asking if there would be anything for vegetarians we were told that they thought so and that there should be something for everyone. There was nothing except lettuce and soup - not ideal for our jet lagged and hungry selves, and not the warmest welcome.
There was no mention in the booking process that restaurants were subject to closure in off peak season, and there was no mention of Bamboo restaurant being closed for refurbishment. We were also not forewarned of the dress code for the upscale restaurant, so would not have been able to go even if we had wanted to pay the fee.
The buffet lunches were also not great - the two times we decided to try it out there was nothing for vegetarians. Luckily enough the Plum Tree Grill serves pizzas, pasta and paninis and was truly lovely so we spent every other day there for lunch - highly recommend!
The Choc Bay Cafe was another source of disappointment, however, as it advertised snacks and afternoon tea, however, the range of snacks was very limited and again, anything savoury was not vegetarian. We went for afternoon tea on one of the days and could notice no difference to the usual serving.
We loved the Treetops Italian and went there a couple of times!
There was no real opportunities for snacks in between meal times so we did find ourselves getting quite hungry. I really think they should keep a small portion of the buffet area open all day or offer actual snacks (sandwiches, crisps, slices of pizza, fruit) from somewhere at all hours. It is not truly all inclusive in this sense.

Extras:
No where is air conditioned except your room, and this means no relief from the crazy humid heat unless you are in your room. It would be nice to have at least somewhere else air conditioned to relax in. The wifi is inconveniently placed for daytime use, really need to adopt it for free resort-wide. The lounge where entertainment is held is very tired and needs updating.

Overall we had a lovely time, but would not stay again due to everything mentioned.

Room Tip: Ocean View Deluxe is a must

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The staff were very pleasant and friendly. The food was delicious. Most of the food and deserts are made from local goods. Room was comfortable. Water activities provided were great fun. Beach lime and fire show were amazing. The only downside is that the beach is located relatively near a river and the sea water nearby gets murky when it rains. The resort has a number of swimming pools though.
