Our 3-night stay was very pleasant... cozy rooms, good food in dining room, wonderful location & views. However, we were surprised that a few things with, what we thought were, easy fixes diminished the enjoyment. Coffee was not available until 9 am! Apparently staff was not onsite until 8:30 .... hmmmm to easy to fix. We didn't expect a great deal for a Continental breakfast, and it was pleasant to see fruit and yogurt included, but both the quantity and the quality of the food offered needs improvement. No tea offerred ... odd. Also, although rooms were cleaned and "tidied" nicely daily, restocking of things like towels and glasses was skippy. Our suspicion was that the VERY young ladies who handled both the breakfast and the housekeeping were lacking in the experience and maturity it takes to take care of the important details associated with these functions. I would stay there again... great value for simple comfort. However, these details (which are usually "well duhhhh's" in the hospitality business) should have attention.

Let me tell you about my stay at the Dauphinee inn.

We arrived tired from our long journey and entered the front door. Not a soul to be found. We shouted for a while but nothing. Eventually someone came up and rudely told us we had to go to the restaurant to check in. We were pointed to a hand scribbled sign on the side of the building. Downstairs at the restaurant we found less help. Staff were incredibly rude and snarky, didn't know where reservations were written down (not sure how this is possible). The paperwork I was told to fill out ( after a ten minute search for a pen), was full of information I'd already given and would not have been necessary with an ounce of organization.

We were finally led to our room. The room smelled of dampness. Our one window was covered in mould so bad we could barely see out. The other window in our room was directly onto the "bar" deck and thus we had people sitting in front of our window. The shutters on the window were covered in mould (which were on the inside of the room). We also had the pleasure of live music blaring directly into our room. The bathroom sink was covered in purple stuff ( possibly mould?).

I've stayed in bed and breakfasts all around the world and have never been treated so poorly, with such little respect and also paid so much. They think Just because they have a prime location they can forego basic customer care.

Do not stay here, B and B choice in hubbards is small, but get a cabin instead, trust me. I saw these reviews before I went and thought, how bad could it be? These are people who just aren't used to B and Bs. No, just don't stay here.

We recently stayed at the Inn to attend a wedding in the area. The location of the Inn is so pretty sitting right on the cove, and it has a lovely deck overlooking the water. The room we stayed in was the Shankel and it was nicely appointed with period furnishings. Bed was high, but very comfy. It was a hot humid weekend, so we found it quite warm for sleeping, even with the windows open. The staff was friendly and helpful in helping to get us settled and answering our questions about the area. We have stayed in B & B's many times and have learned what to expect, as they are fairly expensive to stay in. Upon arrival, there was noone at the Inn entrance or front desk to greet visitors and we had to roam thru the Inn to find them, which we found a bit off putting. Also the breakfast the next morning was serve yourself and only consisted of cold cereal, yougert, coffee, juice or English muffins. However overall I would stay here again.

We had a great stay at the Inn, it was a hot, sunny day in July. The restaurant was under renovation, so we brought our own wine and had apps on the deck. The deck is beeeeautiful and has a lovely view of Hubbards Cove. We went to the Shore Club for dinner and it was just a short walk away. Perfect!

Stayed for a wedding, will not go back! To some it up it was unfriendly, unorganized, falling apart (the patio furniture they did manage to have on the deck was mostly broken, as in could not be used). The service in the restaurant was pitiful and the food barely passable. The innkeeper seemed genuinely put out when we arrived and slightly annoyed that he had to check us in.

There was no separate listing on Trip Advisor for the restaurant attached to this Inn, so my review will go here. The Dauphinee Inn restaurant in short is terrible. Like other restaurants I have reviewed on the shores of Nova Scotia, it has a beautiful view; the deck is nice, they have live music in the afternoons. The deck faces west so on a beautiful day you could have a lovely experience there if the food and service was good. But it is not. In fact I will now place this at the bottom of my list of any restaurant in Nova Scotia.

The deck tables looked like they were bought at Canadian Tire. Nothing wrong with that but the plates, the cutlery and basically everything else looked like it came from the same spot. There was a row of mini curtains like a wallpaper border on the inside at the top of the ceiling. Weird 80's feel. Even with basic decorating skills this place could be improved.

The Oysters were blah and expensive at $3 each for the quality. There were four of us. My wine came with strange rectangular particles at the bottom of the glass. The two bottles of red shared amongst the other three people was $80 which made the meal manageable I guess. My dining partner never got her salad dressing and had to ask for it finally when a server came by 10 minutes after bringing the meal. I had a Caesar Salad which seemed safe but it was not. Boring and had a strange taste to the dressing. My burger came on a glass plate the size of a saucer, and was boring and blah as well. My other half had a lobster avocado salad after his oysters that he really only had one word for. Terrible. Another dining partner rolled the dice and ordered a strange meal that is presented with raw proteins (steak, shrimp and vegetables) and a 650 degree heated piece of granite to cook it on. Without any seasoning and this weird concept the meal just fell flat. He was so hungry he wanted to order something else and just decided on a simple crumble.

All in all the bill came to $270 for four people which was ridiculous for the worst meal in recent memory.

Convenient place to stay and very clean, the staff were really friendly. However like a previous review, we were the only couple staying here and did find it strange that no-one, not even the owner stayed on the premises over night. Did not really feel relaxed and could not wait till the morning. Breakfast was very limited, however the meal we had the night before (calamari) was very tasty.
