I went to Ruuk Village for the Holy Week, not season for Kitesurfing, it was holiday but the staff gave their best effort to give me infos how to spend my 5 days! I’m a vegetarian and they cooked special food for me! Gama is the soul of this place. ❤️

We spend 7 amazing days at Ruuk Village. It's a perfect place to relax and rest before/after kitesurfing with a very family like atmosphere. Gama and his Team were really friendly and tried their best to make our stay unforgettable.
Daniel is a great kite-teacher and gave us some very helpful advises. We definitely could improve our level and we have been very happy with his teaching. He really tried to help us and it was not just money making.
They were all very flexible and considered our wishes very well.
We really enjoyed our stay there and we will surely come back!

Nice calm and peaceful place. I had delicious traditional food. Gama was helping to organise my stay here. Close to the kitesurfing lagune. Breakfast, lunch and dinner at one table, you feel like being in a family

I stayed for a week for a week in February. I took an ensuite cabana with full board. They are options of half board and B+B and they have different accommodation types.

Ruuk Village is a quiet paradise on the waterfront a short walk from Kalpitiya village. The vibe is relaxed, peaceful and friendly, managed by Gamage and his team. The accommodation is simple but comfortable, with lovely bathrooms open to a small private garden. If you like showering under the stars then this is a place for you. If you take the full board option then lunch and dinner are at set times and a chance to meet others and make friends around the communal table. The food was good with enough variety for a weeks stay and the team are always on for feedback and will endeavour to accommodate any requests.

Many come here to kite-board and during Dec - Feb and May - September there can be few better places with a safe lagoon and constant winds. Daniel runs an excellent kiteboarding school within Ruuk Village. Professionally run with good equipment and excellent tuition its a short boat ride across to the main beach. More experienced kiteboarders can launch directly from Ruuk beach.

For non kite-boarders there is a yoga platform, stand up paddle boards, games and a volleyball net. Or you can just chill in the garden hammocks and watch the birds and play with the cats. Trips can be organised for dolphin watching, to see nearby temples and the national park.

Ruuk is off grid with a generator run in the evenings to sustain tech addictions and 24 hour WiFi. The agenda is clearly about being sustainable and maintaining a connection to the local way of life. Whether you are group, family or solo traveller you will find a warm welcome and a beautiful place to be as activate or as lazy as you feel. I will definitely be back. Thank you everyone at Ruuk Village.

Lying in a hammock here with the tropical ocean breeze is the kind of thing we dream about. Plus the food is top notch. I love to go to local restaurants for authentic local cuisine but they provide that at the highest level I have found anywhere. It is a truly Eco-friendly resort, and you never have to leave to have a great time.

Room tip: Your tropical beach fantasy!

I had a wonderful time at Ruuk Village. It‘s awesome for kite surfing. Moreover I enjoyed day trips perfectly organised by Gama (e.g. Puttalam temple, Safari). All dining at one table, you feel like being part of a family. Delicious food is prepared by locals - just the best.
