At the beginning we were very pleased with the hotel: clean large room, excellent view for the ocean, very close to the beach, nice breakfast, reasonable prices. However, we had unfortunately ordered laundry service for two pairs of off-white trousers. What we got back on the next day were two pairs of pink trousers with hardly any stains removed. When we started to complain during the check out, the personnel started to pretend they did not understand English anymore and ignore us. We left quite disappointed.

We were on the top floor of rooms which is a bit of a climb. You could get a decent view from pretty much any floor though. The rooftop pool is nice for a sundown drink with the waves crashing over the road on the beach. The breakfast was basic. The reception staff were great though - very helpful.

Me and my friend traveled around Sri Lanka for 8 days in March this year and had such an incredible holiday - we ended the trip at Hotel Silan Mo - we loved Mirissa beach so much we explored a few beaches and it was by far our favourite as it had a lovely chilled vibe with delicious sea food restaurants and chilled bars on the beach. The hotel had a great view (we requested the top floor so we had a good view which did mean the stairs were a bit of a trek to get to our room but it was a good work out - there is no lift - so if you struggle with stairs get a lower floor room) - the room was lovely, airy and clean and there was a plunge pool on the roof. The staff that worked on the beach for the hotel were so lovely helpful and generally really nice every day - particularly the young man that worked behind the bar and Badu who helped us with our beach beds every day with a huge smile. We would highly recommend staying there. The only thing we would say is while the breakfasts were lovely we were forced to do half board and we would recommend not having dinner at the restaurant mainly because there are so many delicious restaurants on the beach and street food to sample.

Came back in 2014 following a good stay in 2013.

I really like Mirissa and Silan Mo. The rooms are big, has a big balcony, excellent view, and a nice pool on the top.

Only complaint is there food. Breakfast is limited and their dinner to pricey.

Some may prefer a hotel on the beach, but Silan Mo offers a stunning view and do have a little private beach with sun beds.

Spent two nights in this fine hotel. Its location, across the road from the beach, is convenient for couples craving for tranquility after à busy day (or night) on the beach. The staff is very friendly and can help you organize tours and activities.

Room Tip: The higher the room number, the more stairs you'll need to climb. But the view is worth the effo...

Just across the road from the beach. You can see and hear the ocean from your balcony, but you aren't so close as to be bothered by beach parties int he evenings. Good hearty breakfast buffet and helpful staff. The rooftop has a pool if you don't want to swim int he ocean for whatever reason. The room was large with a big window facing seaward.

I did not notice any elevators, I had no problem climbing the stairs, but there may be difficulties for those with mobility restrictions. It is possible that there was something hidden away so it would be best to ask first if this is a consideration.

We got a room on the top floor which required climbing 7 sewage smelling flights of stairs everytime we went to our room. The room was basic but ok, the a/c took 24 hours on full power to cool the room and there was a window from the hallway directly into our shower room which was ridiculous! Only 2 tv channels and wifi was hit and miss. Service was ok. The best aspect of this hotel was the location. Mirissa beach is Fantastic. Perfect for swimming in and at night the candlelit restaurants are wonderful. Was a highlight of our time in Sri Lanka. That is all on your doorstep at Silan Mo.

Room Tip: Views from the top rooms aren't amazing and require many flights of stairs to get to.
