If you have never seen whales, you should do so at least once. It can be an amazing experience. Seeing whales is exhilarating. You don't see them for long--they come to the surface for air and go under water again. It's hard to get close, they usually surface about 100 meters away. Still, it's worth doing.

I went in January '14 during high season on a Sunday. There were easily 20-25 other boats doing the same thing. It might be less crowded on a weekday, but I don't have first-hand experience. When a whale would surface, a couple of aggressive boats would head towards its position and the whale would promptly go under the water. The more responsible captains tried to keep some distance so as not to spook the whales.

Sunbeam Blue Whales was dishonest. I booked this trip through their hotel, Sunbeam Beach Resort. The manager gave me a story about how their boat would keep the group size small and it would leave at a set time. Wrong on both counts. We were the last boat to leave, about 25 minutes after EVERY other boat had departed. Why? To keep taking on passengers. I was told to expect around 20 passengers and it was in the low to mid- 30's. No room to move around. You either were in a good viewing spot or you weren't.

After the trip I went back to the hotel to complain to the manager and asked for a partial refund. He wouldn't do it, even though I reminded him of what he told me the previous afternoon. The only thing he offered as a consolation was a free breakfast because there were so many passengers they ran out of boxed snacks (including for me, also). I did see less crowded boats, so keep that in mind. Also, this was peak season, right after new years.

I was in Marissa on February 2013 and went whale watching - 2 times with Sunbeam Blue Whales. It was a great experience and the crew was awesome! We always saw whales and sometimes even sea dolphins. The crew acts very respectfully with the whales and makes sure that everyone is satisfied before going back to the harbor.
In the unlikely event that they don’t find the whales they refund all the money, so it's no risk at all to go with them.Furthermore, the boat was in a really good condition and as all the crew members are trained life savers I always felt totally save on the boat.
So seriously, if you want to have an awesome whale watching experience, go with Sunbeam Blue Whales

the whale watching trip with "Sunbeam blue Whales" was really amazing, and it's refreshing to see a whale watching tour where the whales are the primary concern seeing these beautiful whales, dolphins and turtles in their natural environment. it was so positive also because it was done from a "safer" distance in order not to cause the whales grief but still close enough for us to enjoy these majestic creatures.the "Sunbeam blue Whales" crew were fun, friendly, informative and attentive. the crew were very kind and helpful to the customers

We saw other boats chasing the whales but "Sunbeam blue Whales" always turned off the engine when we saw any whale and told us to look at a particular direction and they was always spot on. the crew were obviously very well versed on the behavior of the blue whales, and excellent spotters.Fruits and breakfast are provided on board. I would highly recommend them over the other boats, really great job guys!! I would recommend Sunbeam blue Whales" without any doubt and can assure that nobody will repent after going with them...good luck
