A nice trip out on the Ocean to find the magnificent Blue Whale. Mirissa Water Sports are good at what they do and the crew do their best to look after everyone on the boat. The trip lasted 7 hours, which is long if you have sea sickness, but was worth it for the sighting of a Blue Whale, Spinner Dolphins and Flying fish. The water can be a bit choppy and the boat does bob up and down when the engine is cut to view the whales. You are offered breakfast and a travel sickness tablet before the adventure begins. The crew really worked hard to find a Whale and were prepared to stay out until they found one. I struggled with sea sickness, but it was worth it to see these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat. A must do if you are in Mirissa and love nature!!

We went on a whale-watching boat trip with Mirissa in February and literally had a 'whale' of a time. After an early start (with breakfast provided) we set off unsure as to whether we would see whales - we had heard of trips when no whales were seen. However we soon encountered our first blue whale and then went on to see at least five and close to the boat. It was our first whale experience and certainly spectacular, including disappearing tails and blow-holes. We thought that would be it, but the boat continued and we then came across hundreds of spinner dolphins hurtling along, leaping and spining. We had seen other types of dolphin before, but this was even more dramatic. Going by the tally board they put up of recent days' sightings, we saw more than average, both of whales and dolphins. So it was an amazing experience and we found Mirissa Water Sports very good in all aspects.

we had a wonderful experience with Mirissa Water Sports, we were a group of 14 and the poeple on the boat were particulary helpful and interested by their job. We only see a whale after two hours of boat and it was a bit long...but it was worth it! we stay next to the whale and saw it coming up to the surface four times, it was amazing and everyone was pleased! on the way back we meet with more that 300 of dolphins, dancing jumping all around us, this was a one time life experience! thanks a lot to the crew, they are perfect, sensible and professionel!
we will come again!

Early february went whale watching and what a wondeful time we had. There were 30 in the boat and we were served coffee before our early start ( 6.30am) and each was given a small but ample and tasty breakfast pack with sandwiches, a cake and some fruit.to take to the boat.. It was a punctual start - a rarity in Sri Lanka - and we were in for a treat - 6 blue whales and large number of Brydes whales and 2 pods of Spinner dolphins each pod with nearly a hundred. I had ample space and time to take photos and managed to get 3 series of 8 photos each of diving whales with the iconic tails in the air shots./ The crew were friendly and knowledgeable and always asked us whether to move on or to wait a bit longer. Since I had been on rather negative trips before i have no hesitation in recommending Mirissa Water Sports for any potential whale watchers

Morning Whale watching - The organisation of this company was top notch. I had e-mailed previously to boo and there were no issues on arriving. They needed passport number which I didn't have but it was not an issue for them. You're given a packed lunch/breakfast on arrival and handed a cup of coffee whilst waiting to be escorted to the boat which is less than a 5 minute walk away. The boat was a nice large size with a top and bottom deck, (the front on top deck is a great spot with mats to sit on).The trip itself was fantastic with an amazing sighting of a huge pod of dolphins and then at least 8 encounters with blue whales. We were on the water for 4-5 hours. I was very impressed by the approach on the water as they didn't get too close to the whales they didn't dart over to catch them or interfere with them in any way. 10 out of 10 for animal friendliness. On returning back to the office everyone received a coconut drink.
