Lovely hotel.
Stayed for one night in March and we were greeted upon arrival by Mark who helped us to our room. Room size was adequate and very clean and the fruit bowl, filter coffee + fresh milk in the fridge, jar of home made biscuits and complimentary bottles of water were nice touches.
Although it was late Mark managed to find us a nice table in the bar close to the log burning stove. The bar served a couple of nice local real ales and other drinks.
Dinner food, although of fabulous quality, was of varying volume. My partner had the cheesecake starter, as a main, which was plentiful. My pork and vegetables could have been more plentiful, but no faulting the cooking and presentation. Main courses were c. £13 with starters / sweets @ c. £5-£6.
Breakfast was of excellent quality and comprised cereals, juice, full English or a choice of eggs. Good quality bacon and locally sourced sausages were welcome components.
Overall an attractive 16th century building containing an excellent quality hotel, run by accommodating people within close travelling distance of Bath. Very well recommended.

Room Tip: We stayed in Samantha, a room away from the road overlooking the car park.

My husband and I stayed at The Tollgate Inn on Saturday 29th for one night. We stayed in the Jake room, which is a lovely character room, complete with low beams. The room has its own mini fridge which is a bonus, a good selection of teas, instant and filtered coffees, fresh milk, and nice bottled water. The rooms are accessed by a secure locked outer door via an outside staircase which means you can come and go as you please without having to go in through the pub. We enjoyed a lovely full English breakfast which is served downstairs in the pub.
The hotel has a large car park so parking is not a problem. The Tollgate is close to Bradford on Avon which is also worth a visit with a station which makes it ideal for visiting Bath by train.

Room Tip: The Jake room is a cosy novel room with low pitched ceilings and beams. The en-suit shower cubicle i...

My wife and I stayed here the 20th & 21st and left the morning of the 22sd March 2014. Apparently the proprietors, Laura & Mark, have evenings with entertainment and a meal, we booked the "Magic evening" for the evening of the 20th which consisted of a very good two course meal and a very entertaining chap named Stanton, I think..sorry! He was good making the night really entertaining. Our room was named "Jake" which due to being in the eves made it unsuitable for tall people, however I'm not tall! If you look at the cost of the room in isolation I think most would say it was a little overpriced, but read on. The staff are absolutely superb and very helpful particularly Jenny which should not be read as saying the others where not as good. The food was good and reasonably priced as was the house wine and the guest bitter which I tried was nice. Unfortunately on both mornings the breakfast was too much for my wife and I, and extremely well cooked so Mark don't change the breakfast! Looking at the two nights as a whole our two day break was worth every penny and I would recommend the Tollgate Inn to anybody, two miles from Bradford on Avon and around seven miles from Bath, on Jenny's advice we left our car in Bradford on Avon' station car park and took the train into Bath. One negative comment, the outside staircase leading up to the rooms should have more lighting, and if possible some covering, an infirm or older person could find the staircase a challenge in bad weather or dark nights. Although having said that Jenny was more than pleased to unlock a door to allow us up an internal staircase when asked.

Room Tip: If your tall don't have room Jake

The place was packed but not a long wait for service. Beef was excellent, very good quality and plenty of it. Our daughter loved the Chicken and son really enjoyed the burger.
Assorted veg and roast potatoes very good. Vanilla creme brûlée and ice cream rounded off the meal nicely. Would recommend and booking is essential

Very comfortable country pub and hotel offering excellent food and accommodation at good value prices. Stayed 2 nights in imaginatively furnished but comfortable bedroom which included fresh milk for tea and coffee. Excellent dinner and breakfasts with much locally sourced food.

Room Tip: Check on room head height as some have low ceilings.

Very friendly greeting on arrival by Laura, who showed us to our room. The room Was lovely, very cosy with some nice features. There was free water, filter coffee, fresh milk, and fresh fruit in our room which is a nice touch. We had a lovely evening meal. The breakfast was amazing, good quality local produce cooked to perfection. All in all a very enjoyable stay, in a nice, small village setting, very near to Bath and Bradford on Avon.

This hotel is situated in the village of Holt. The rooms are comfortable and homely, we stayed in 'Samantha' room. We were greeted by Laura who made us welcome. The pub restaurant had an excellent menu and wine list, we opted for the dish of the day 'loin of pork' which was cooked to perfection. The Bifferno (Italian red) and Shiraz ( South African red) did not disappoint. The hotel has a large car park so parking is not a problem. The breakfast was excellent and generous. This hotel / pub is situated near Bradford on Avon and ideal for visiting Bath. Highly recommended!

Room Tip: Samantha room is the largest room in the hotel.
