Mallin Colorado Ecolodge
Reviewed 8 February 2012

We stayed two nights. The attitude of owner and staff was very nice and warm. The atmosphere of the living room and dining room is excellent. Though failures in service ended up making it a not so good experience:
Water heater did not work well as also faucets in the lavatory
No change of wet towels
No key in the door. It remained open at night
Wine and drinks extremely expensive
Food also expensive and average quality.
Too expensive for its current quality
It seems it was a good place before as previous reviews show but not this time.

Dear Eduardo,
we are really sorry for the inconveniences you found in Mallin Colorado last summer. We have considered very seriously your opinion and have already improved our services. But I want to confirm that we normally do not close any cabin, since it is a remote location and there is no more people in the property than the staff and the guests. Have to tell you that if someone prefers to close the door, you just have to ask for the key in the main house. I personally take care that our cook makes the best food, homy, delicious and with natural ingredients.
I thank you for your opinion and promise we are doing big efforts to bring the best service and atmosphere to our guests in Mallin Colorado.
Best regards,
Paula

Its a long trek from Coyhaique, but driving yourself is a great experience. We arrived in time for a brief walk around the main property which is a lodge with individual cabins well spread. The owner is a great source of suggestions which we followed on the three full days we were there. Highlights were the horse riding up the mountain for some really spectacular views - challenging ride but not too difficult for competent riders. The food was very good, augmented with produce direct from the garden and home made jams, etc. a great experience in a wilderness setting.

Room Tip: If a couple try to get the cabin for two - really special!

Beautiful chalets (Cabanias) in a quiet and incredible/grandiose natural environment. Really a place to be to discover the beauty and the atmosfer of Patagonia.
Location allows to perform several excursions in the vicinity. The lodge provides dedicated guides for your journey.
Paula is a very warm and enthousiastic hostess and the food prepared by Don Juan was excellent (the lamb cooked on the barbecue was a delice).

Room Tip: All rooms are loctaed in isolated chalets,

We went with our family (3 generations, including 2 babies) and had a wonderful time. The staff did everything they could to accommodate us and our needs, even letting our 6-month-old nap in Paula's (the owner's) bedroom so she'd have a quiet place to sleep! There is a lot to do in the area - we went hiking, fishing, horseback riding, and on a boat tour of the Marble Caves. We also enjoyed just relaxing at Mallin Colorado - there are some amazing views, especially from the horse trail. And lucky for us, we had perfect sunny weather the entire time, so we were really able to appreciate the setting. The cabins themselves were cozy and comfortable - not fancy, but very in tune with the rustic setting. The food was good and all very fresh - they have a little greenhouse with a wonderful vegetable garden. Our only complaint was a picnic we ordered one day on short notice - the sandwiches weren't great. But all in all, it was a wonderful trip and we'd love to go back!

My husband & I plus another couple stayed five fantastic nights at Mallin Colorado & absolutely did NOT want to leave even then! We had the very best time - our cabana was gorgeous with a view of the lake & mountains that was changing every few minutes. We had privacy yet could walk just a few minutes to the lodge for food, drink or a comfy lounge. Paula cooked for us a gourmet delicacy every night and a yummy breakfast with homemade whole grain bread, fresh eggs, avocados & a changing fresh fruit frappe. We took several of the multiple & varied hikes right out the back door, from 40 minutes to 4 hours - all spectacular scenery & views trekking through beautiful changing forests, plants, birds & wildlife. It is just private enough to be private, yet close enough if one wants to explore the little villages nearby. The perfect blend of luxury & rustic. We'll be back soon!

My husband, son (21) and a friend (24) stayed at Mallin Colorado over the Christmas Holiday. We were greeted warmly and treated like family. We had a lovely cabin and the food was delicious and plentiful. We enjoyed the excursions as well as the time spent relaxing in our cabin or wandering the grounds on our own. We loved the glacier day hike and would highly recommend it to others. Mallin Colorado is a beautiful place with charming people. We certainly had "good times" while we were there.
