“Very good food, and great view!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 August 2013

The food was actually probably the best we had during our trip -- and the prices were very reasonable. The view over the vinyards was fabulous, and the service was relaxed and attentive.

We were with three young children, and they all had a great time on the terrace while we sampled the wines!!

“Great place to enjoy good food and a nice view”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 June 2013

This restaurant offers good and honest food, served in a nice spacious place with a great view on the nearby vineyards. Typical for the Langhe area, the menu is a few pages whereas the wine list is a big book! We stayed at I Grappoli, a nearby appartment so it was no problem to have a bottle of good wine.

“Magnificent View”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 June 2013

We were here just for aperitivo and did not try any of the food commented on by other reviewers, but the location alone makes this place worthy of seeking out. It is a family run establishment located in a very rural area that you are not likely to wander onto unless you are on a guided tour or have a personal knowledge of the area. The view from the terrace is absolutely breathtaking, and if you throw in a few glasses of Roero Arneis with delectable chunks of Parmesan and cured meats, it is heavenly. Highly recommended.

“As I said, worth a visit or two. I came back -- twice!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 May 2013

Per my own suggestion, I came back twice on this trip. Honestly, though, both were unplanned. So, this review will be less about the specific food and more about why this is a top restaurant choice.

My first return was a lunch provided by one of Piemonte’s bigger wine producers. Prunotto could have taken us into Alba for lunch, but they brought us into an out-of-the-way rural restaurant. Why? The food is good and it has a great view, particularly on this beautiful Sunday! I was particularly impressed when our host and hostess split the 1-kilo steak – she not only took the bone, but she ate it like a veteran!

It’s nice to have a reliable place to go when others fail. We tried three other options before coming back to La Rosa dei Vini; two places were still closed for the winter season and the other decided that they were only serving pizza for the dinner crowd (and the place was still packed, despite its remote, rural location!) I had the Kilo-steak myself this time. Yum; I’m also liking cold frittatas and the ones here are fueling the new addiction!

The menu is seasonal, but the 7-8 different things I have tasted in 4 visits were all consistently delicious, although the presentation is on the “sparse” side. The dining room is a bit like an enclosed add-on patio with glass walls/doors that open up to appreciate the great view. The wine list is excellent; good prices, diverse selections, many producers and multiple vintages. White table cloths and proper stemware join beautiful plates to keep the classy feel of the place alive. The service is still slow, as the only person on the floor is the matron of the house.

We had a very nice lunch here. Good service and a very nice view from the terasse. We took the tasting menu and everything was excellent.
