4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 September 2012 via mobile

This little gem is not easy to find. But if you get lucky and find it, you won't be disappointed. It's a B&B so don't expect much service but the little service you get from Elena the owner is top notch and you feel immediately like home. Only four rooms but they are all nice and roomy. The breakfast is more than ample and served in the small but attractive garden. The little village of Serralunga itself is also worth the visit.

After going around the town several times we found the place. The building was covered by scaffolding, front door dirty and looked abandoned!! We knocked..called out...nothing! After 5-7 minutes a man showed up in a car, it was the neighbor, he opened the doors and called the owner.
We were supposed to choose our rooms and she would see us in the morning! The place looked and smelled closed in.it was awful looking outside.... We could not stay in that condition!!! After sending pictures of the building to Booking.com they did not back us up and we were charged for a night even though the place was INHABITABLE !! Very BAD FORM... The code we were supposed to have was received on my mail one hour before we arrived at 7PM on the day of arrival. How were we supposed to get it while on the road? Very deceptive on the part of the owner... It should not be rented out while repairs are going on.

Room Tip: The owners lied about the conditions of the B&B. Was not ready for guests. Pictures ARE NOTCORR...

This B&B was quaint and beautiful! Definitely worth a multiple return!! The rooms were lovely and very comfy--the bed was great! We particularly enjoyed the room off the courtyard, where we walked out to breakfast each morning! Breakfasts were astounding--and you could skip lunch. Or picnic along the countryside. Hostess, Elena, was most hospitable and helpful with anything you might need, and my non-Italian speaking was no problem, as her English brought us right through!! Serralunga d'Alba is a tiny town--walk through it in an afternoon--then go back and enjoy the castle, streets and restaurants. Great find!

Room Tip: Our room on the courtyard was lovely.

With our little son we spent two nights in this BB in the picturesque village of Serralunga d'Alba. We can only confirm the other reviews here regarding the hospitality and quality encountered.

We were glad to have such warm welcome and support from the owner for finding ourselves around in the region and also felt very comfortable in the refurbished "old nursery" with it's classic and simple interior design.

Breakfast was great too, so we would recommend this place for anyone with a car and interested I staying close to Alba / Barolo / La Morra! What is a further plus: the view from the little street in front of the BB - fantastic!

05 - 07dec2011 @ 85euro/day. Looking for a place near Albaretto della Torre where we had an unexpected lunch reservation with icon chef Cesare Giaccone in his home, this small B&B in Serralunga revealed itself during an internet search. Normally this time of year would not find me in Piemonte but this gastronomic opportunity came, as of many life's better offerings, just by chance. The Antico Asilo fulfilled our needs to a T. Very carefully retouched rooms, lovely breakfast, a very congenial Elena as host, and spectacular if quiet surroundings. Perfect. Antico Asilo left the same impression as the extreme beauty of the wine region here, where at every turn in the road there opens a new vista as if it must outdo that which had just passed by.

Room Tip: any room is good

We enjoyed our first visit to Serralunga d'Alba. There are parking spaces in front of the hotel with the most gorgeous view of the vineyards. There are a few benches outside so you can enjoy this view at anytime. There are four rooms in this beautiful building that used to be a nursery.

Elena is one of the most charming hosts we have ever met. She is a wonderful cook and we enjoyed our large breakfast spread every morning. We didn't sleep in because we were looking forward to our morning meal.

Everything is a 10 to 20 minute drive away. You can visit Alba, Barolo, Asti, Bra, and every other beautiful city in this region. We found this area to be breathtaking and our only complaint is that we wished we stayed longer.

It's the second time we stay here for our "white truffle" trips in the Langhe region and will certainly come back.
The location is beautiful and convenient, including proximity to great Slow Food osteria Cascina Schiavenza (50 mt from the hotel - reservation recommended).
Very clean hotel, very nice breakfast buffet.
The owner is very friendly and helpful.
