The girlfriend & I stayed here from the 8th Till the 12th of March, the hotel was slightly awkward to find at first as we had hired a rental car from Budget International at the Airport, we had the address but the Sat-Nav we had been given did not know of this exact address and instead took us down the road a little farther and seeing we had never been here before we couldn't find it straight away, after a quick call to the hotel and a brief word with Nu-Nu we found it in no time (roughly a 45 minute drive from airport).

Upon arriving we entered the reception which is also the main if not the only tourist information center in Mosfellsbær, we rang the bell and within a few minutes we were greeted by a very happy & polite gentleman who was the hotel owner (can't remember his name -_-) he guided us to our room which was Number 25, the room was very spacious and felt very homely, it was very clean and had a few good views from various windows which allowed for the room to be very light and airy.

Upon awaking In the morning we spoke to Nu-Nu about re-arranging our Northern lights tour aswell as what other things we should do while we were there, She was very helpful as were a couple we met at the hotel, they both suggested The Golden Cirlce route which was about a 6 round trip (taking into account stopping at Geysir, Gulfoss & for eating and general stopping in lay-bys for photographs) also recommended was travelling down the South Coast to a place called Vik (takes roughly 2 and a half hours including stopping at Skõgafoss, aswell as some other smaller waterfalls in that area).

All in all this was an incredible holiday that started at a very nice small Hotel/Guesthouse, all the staff are very friendly and helpful aswell as all speaking English which is very handy!

Also if you find yourself not knowing where to go to for the best spot for the Aurora Borealis then look no further than Pingvellir National Park (We saw them twice at this location as well as through the sky light in Hotel Laxnes!

We stayed here for 3 nights, wish it could have been more. It's about 20 minutes from Reykjavik, quite easy to find by car as it's just off the main highway 1.
It's located on the edge of a local retail park. There's a KFC nearby, a Dominos, a bakery and associated restaurant plus supermarkets and a petrol station. Being well away from the city there isn't a great deal of choice of places to eat. The hotel staff advised that they could recommend places to eat but we were happy with the local offerings so are not sure what else is available outside of the immediate area.
The hotel staff were so friendly, nothing was too much trouble. They booked a tour for us and gave us travel advice when we requested it.
There is a cosy bar and a large pool table available. Breakfast was adequate and consisted of porridge, cereals, meats and fruits.
The ambience of the hotel is just perfect. This is so not a chain hotel. There were examples of art deco everywhere which was a really nice touch. So many hotels are sterile but not this one.
We had a room overlooking the mountains at the rear. View is simply wonderful. Definitely worth asking for one of these rooms.
Hairdryers are available on request
We would stay here again in a heartbeat

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the mountain/valley

We booked the Hotel Laxnes approximately 6 months before our trip to Iceland but were disappointed to receive an email the week before we were due to arrive advising the hotel was overbooked and we were being moved to a different one in a different area. This put a slight dampener on our excitement leading up to the holiday, but thankfully in the end Shaun found us a room and we were able to stay at Hotel Laxnes.

The hotel is really easy to find and there is plenty of parking. Its in a great location to go up into the mountains or back into central reykjavik. Next to the hotel are a KFC and Bonus supermarket, and approx a 5 minute walk away is a lovely bakery and the sports bar (where you get 10% discount with your room key). Our room was basic, but was clean, fantastic size and had stunning mountain views with a pull out style balcony. Everything we wanted!

Breakfast was help yourself selection of breads (with toasters available), meats, cheeses, fruits, jams and tea, coffee, juice. Everything was lovely and very relaxed, it felt like you were at home.

All the staff were really friendly and helpful, and we can't wait to go back!!

What a lovely hotel situated just outside Reykjavik. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful on ideas and organising trips in and around Iceland. The hotel itself is outside of the town, which is just a 20min bus or car drive to the town. Perfect place to stay if you want to be closer to nature but within arms reach of the bustle if town. Rooms were pleasant and warm.

First off, this hotel was everything i expected and more. My first night there had me worried as there was nothing around to do in the evenings outside of the city center but we soon fell into the relaxing pattern of having a few games of pool while purchasing a few drinks from the bar in the evenings. The nights were taken up by the search for the elusive northern lights. I stayed at this hotel because of the reviews i have read about the lights apprearing above the hotel. I was not disappointed. Having went out on the excursion the night before we were very disappointed to only see a glimmer of the lights. The night after was spent seated under the window in our room from 11pm - 130. We saw the lights 3 times and once in its full glory across the whole sky. That was the only night in 4 that the lights were seen though. U have to have a clear cloudless sky. The Blue lagoon is a must and the lovely staff there can book all the excursions for you. The bus easy to use and going into town was not a problem. Special thanks to Shaun, Nunu and Riato for being so friendly and helpful. Finally, Shaun, as promised: Albert Albert Albert, the loveliest man ever. By the, we got engaged while in Iceland, so the place will forever be special to us, we will definitely return 1 day.

We stayed here for 3 nights at the start of March 2013 and had a great time. The hotel is very comfortable and cosy, in a fantastic position for sight seeing, close to all local amenities, and staff could not be more helpful (helping with all manner of queries) - so much so that we are planning on booking it for a week for our son's honeymoon next year!

Room Tip: Believe studio rooms have mountain views
