To sum up - fantastic hotel and great staff, couldn't ask for more for the price.

Staff were absolutely fantastic, they recommended local places, remembered who you were and what you were up to that day and helped organise great days out with genuine interest. They truly made our stay in this hotel something to talk about.

The rooms are simple but comfortable and always warm. Good hot water in the showers at all times and lovely cleaning service. Most of all the view from the window (in out case room 17) is a gorgeous mountain view.

Out the back there's a hot tub, we had a few issues getting it to the right temperature at first since it's not done on thermostat but the staff were constant happy to help and come check if we wee comfortable. We even had the good fortune to see the northern lights out over the mountains from the tub. Breathtaking!

The breakfast was simple but good, a continental including meats, toast, porridge and other basics. Very filling and a good time frame in which to have some (7.15-10) so no issues there.

The surrounding area has good views but not a great deal going on. If you have an interest in wool there is a local store the staff are more than happy to direct you to. Round the corner beside a supermarket there is a sports bar/restaurant that do some great food with decent portion sizes. On top for me would be the local bakery, we were told about it by the staff of Laxnes and it's truly delicious! Great selection on cakes and pastries and lovely chocolate sets if you want to take something home.

I would happily stay at this hotel with my partner should we ever return to Iceland again!

Room Tip: We were in room 17, kitchenette if you plan to cook for yourself and great view.

We stayed for three nights at the end of January and were very impressed. The hotel has a nice cosy quirkiness and our room was pleasant with long windows, one of which pushed out into a small balcony, and there was a lovely view over the mountains. The breakfast was good and the staff, and owner, were very friendly and helpful. Although outside Reykjavik you can be picked up for all your trips and there is a bus stop just outside the hotel if you want to go into the city. We found an open air swimming pool just around the corner which is part of a sports complex, and we would highly recommend a swim there, again the staff were extremely pleasant. In fact everyone we met in Iceland was charming and we will certainly return if we can.

Room Tip: Rooms on first floor with a lovely view.

Took my wife for her 30th birthday to Iceland and turned out to be one of our very best holidays ever.

Hotel was brilliant, and staff were excellent, especially gentlemen at the front desk (who's name I can now sadly now no longer remember) he arranged a fantastic hire car for us and the hotel is renowned for seeing the Northern Lights. If requested the staff will wake you up when they show.

Highly recommended and if you are feeling brave try the purified shark and Black Death chaser...but ONLY if you have a strong stomach

Stayed 3 nights in Feb 14. Room was warm and comfortable. Beds also comfortable. We had 3 people in our room and it was large enough. The views out the windows were stunning. The hotel has its own style that was very pleasant. Good location a few miles out of Reykjavik, just off of route 1, but very little traffic noise. Staff were very helpful, giving good tips on places to visit and places to eat locally. Best coffee I've had in a hotel breakfast for a long time. The whole breakfast was fairly typically continental, no complaints. You can park quite close to the rooms as it is in the motel style. It was a good place to get back to after a long day.

recently returned home from a weeks stay at this hotel. a very clean and warm hotel that offers a lovely cold buffet style breakfast with a lovely warm porridge.rooms cozy and very warm. Shaun the manager and all the staff are very helpfull and will go out of their way to help make your stay both in the hotel and the country as good as possible . Alli the owner is a true gent and cant wait to go back and spend an evening or two in the snug bar area chatting with him.there are a few great places to eat out in the day and evening within a short walk of the hotel and a couple of these places offer a 10% discount on showing your hotel key. all the trips you book will pick you up and drop off at the hotel , plus the bus stop for those of you who wish to go into the city centre is right outside hotel.we really enjoyed our stay both here and in Iceland and cant wait to return as soon as possible. a stunning country with very friendly people.

My sister and I stayed at hotel Laxnes for 3 nights in early February this year. The hotel is quirky and homely, like a cross between an American style motel and a hunting lodge!

It's very clean and cosy and the staff are friendly and incredibly helpful. On opening the curtains in the morning, we had a view of the must fantastic snow topped mountains.

I only got home yesterday and I'm already planning my return visit, to experience all the things that I didn't have time to fit in on this trip! The only thing I could complain about, is that it was over to quickly!

For people who love the outdoors and who enjoy trying new and unusual activities, Iceland is for you.

The icelandic people all speak very good English and are so laid back and happy to go out of their way to help you.

Lovely hotel, fantastic country, I will certainly be returning.

We stayed at Hotel Laxnes for 4 nights. It is very close to Reyjkavic city. What stood out to us the most was the staff. We had some bad luck with our tours being mixed up, they helped us find our right tour, we then missed our flight to London and they helped us re-book it and then we found out we had some online credit card fraud happening and they let us make an international phone call to our bank free from charge. Shaun, the Manager was so helpful and we were very grateful. The rooms are very spacious and it is a very reasonable priced hotel! Thank you Hotel Laxnes!
