We had the most amazing holiday staying at the Hotel Laxnes.

We booked one of the suites. This was a very large room with sitting area and a balcony that looked out towards the mountains. We had a four year old with us and knew we wouldn't be able to do any of the late night Northern Lights trips, so we hoped we could put him to bed and keep watch. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The breakfast, that is included in the price, is basic…but the porridge is delicious!

Shaun, the manager, and all the staff at the hotel are lovely, knowledgeable and helpful. We stayed for a week and hired a car, which enabled us to visit the sights at our leisure. And what sights there were! We say geysers, stunning waterfalls, boiling rivers and mud, huge volcanic craters, hump backed whales breaching and spy hopping... it seemed as though it was a never ending list of must see experiences. After six nights of keeping watch on the balcony and giving up hope seeing the Northern Lights we got a grand finale of them lighting up two nights running.

Thank you Hotel Laxnes, you contributed to such a great holiday and memories.

We really enjoyed our stay at hotel laxnes. We had a beautiful view of the mountains from our skylights, and even managed to see the northern lights from the hotel.

The hotel was in a great location and was nice and cosy to come back to after a long day! A lovely bakery and cafe are nearby, as well as a beautiful coastal walk. Day trips were easily booked at reception and we were picked up from our hotel.

Thank you for a lovely stay!

What a beautiful hotel. Came across for a long weekend and was pleasantly surprised. Hotel Laxnes is located in a beautiful part of Iceland and it was so much nicer to be out of the city, up in the mountains and really appreciate the beauty. Our room was nice, nothing modern but perfect for what we wanted with breath-taking views of the mountain. The hotel itself has everything you need, Sean and his team are SOOO friendly and happy to help with everything and very knowledgeable. Sean sorted everything for us from which bus to catch to town, where to go for dinner, which tours to go on etc. The hot tub in the garden is amazing, it was snowing and we sat in it drinking champagne and waiting for the Northern lights.
We had a successful trip and saw the lights which were a bonus. Can’t recommend this place enough and already planning a trip back for next year to bring family from across the water. Thank you!

We stayed here for three nights during our stay in Iceland on the beginning and in of our trip. The hotel was well situated with lovely views and easy to get to highway for exploring. We had a car so we did not try taking buses. I did notice that the bus stop is across from the hotel and they seem to come pretty regularly. There is a supermarket across the street so we bought food to snack on during our tours. The hotel has a good breakfast -kept me full till lunch and the pub is nice for talking with other travelers at the end of the day. The hotel was well furnished and I loved having a bathtub. One of the rooms even had a small kitchen, which would really help cut down on food costs. Also we arrived early after a long flight from the states and the manager Shaun already had our room ready. It's the thoughtful things like that which make me want to return. I would stay here again for sure. Only regret is we did not see more of the local village where it's based.

We stayed for five nights in April 2014. The hotel is half an hour's bus ride from the centre of Reykjavik. It is surrounded by fast-food outlets. The rooms were clean on arrival but had very little attention during our stay and no cleaning at all takes place at weekends. The bathroom stank of stale water and urine. Lamb soup is on offer some nights but that is the only food provided here (except breakfast) so you must travel outside the hotel to eat, which is fine if you like pizza and KFC or don't mind walking about 10-15mins to the nearest decent bistro which given Iceland's weather, may not suit everyone. The staff were generally helpful and very friendly and were keen to help us with any request.

We are sorry to hear that you were unhappy with your Hotel rooms during your stay .
I have been into the rooms and have asked cleaning staff what was wrong with the rooms and if they were cleaned correct and all seemed to be ok .
We did email you direct and asked the tour operator to email you to be in touch with us so we could try and solve the problem but you seem happy to keep the damaging review on Trip Advisor .
We will do our very best to make sure this problem will not occur again and do hope in the near future when our guests are unhappy with our Hotel rooms ,to let reception know right away while your are still in our Hotel. This way we will try and solve the problem right away as we are not able to do much after you have already left our country .

Best Regards
Shaun
