“Cozy and clean cabin in an idyllic setting”

Perfect place for my husband and I as we toured the west coast of Iceland. The owner was easy to communicate with and generous. The place was perfect for a couple and we woke up every morning in awe of our surroundings. Great kitchen, comfy bed, central and heated floors. Couldn't have asked for a more perfect place. The only small detail that bothered me was all the drinking/washing water was sulfer water, which meant even brushing your teeth with it. Not sure if this is typical but its not so bad once you get used to it or use bottled water to wash up.

“Calm, peaceful and cosy cottage”

Spent an extended weekend at the cottage with family and we were more than happy. Only really accessible with a good rental car (I'd absolutely suggest a 4x4) it's a little difficult to find and a GPS is a must. Driving there at night in a snow storm was an experience both terrifying and fun and in the pitch dark we were a little lucky to find it even with maps and GPS. The property is split between a main bungalow and a separate annex with 2 further bedrooms and an on-suite. It was warm and cosy throughout and the open fire at night was great. It's situated where there is easy access to the golden circle route; Thingvellir, Geysir and Gullfoss are a drive away but not too far. Whalefjord is also close for some stunning views. Situated by the lake it would be great for fishing in the warmer months with Salmon and Char apparently quite plentiful. There's also a decent walking route through the fields and mountains and opportunity to say hello to the resident horses along the way. If you're looking for a calmer more peaceful (and romantic) alternative to Reykjavik it's a great option. Reykjavik itself is about a 30 minute drive away and easy to get to.
The only comments I would make would be to have a few more utensils for cooking in the kitchen and a bit of a clear out of the food in storage some of which is quite past it's best before dates. The TV is useful for nights when you want it but I only managed to get one channel on the night we decided to put it on. I also unclogged the shower when there because I got worried it was going to overflow. The toilet in the annex was also not flushing due to frozen water pipes I think. These are little things that didn't detract from the experience at all but which stop me from giving a five star review. It was very good value, Haukur and Lisa were very helpful and I'd certainly recommend it for those looking for a more secluded Iceland experience outside the main town.

We had a group of 7 stay comfortably in this gorgeous cottage. The location is perfect to see sites such as Geysir and Gullfoss and the drive to Reykjavik is stunning. We saw the northern lights twice on our visit. Thankyou Haukar and Anna Lisa for the use of your lovely cottage.

“Everything we wanted and MORE! - Look no further- you have found your rental”

My partner and I booked this cottage from Haukur and Anna Lisa for a weeks break in November 2014.

I literally spent WEEKS researching and looking for the perfect accommodation and I have to say it was worth it!

The house is perfectly placed to easily reach all the 'sights' and offers very comfortable accommodation and stunning views! What more could you want? Hot tub, open fire, BBQ, 40 mins from the capital, close to the one major road but far enough way from the hubbub to be tranquil!

The cottage was so cosy and warm and have all the facilities you could possibly need!

Haukur and Lisa are fantastic owners - nothing was to much for them! They opened their home to us - shared their food and helped us out with things to do and websites to use to monitor the weather and northern lights.

The mobile wifi was brilliant and really handy!

If you are searching for the northern lights then this house is perfect! In a week we saw them 3 times (once from the hot tub! bliss)

We can't recommend this place enough to people and we will absolutely be back!

Thank you Anna Lisa and Haukur!

“Spectacular views”
Reviewed 25 November 2014 for a stay in September 2014

We stayed at this cottage for 3 nights at the beginning of September 2014.
The cottage has a large wooden balcony/terrace from where we watched Icelandic horses and sheep visiting the lake. The view of the lake and hill was breathtaking, and constantly changing as the light and weather changed throughout our stay. The cottage was extremely well equipped with everything that you could possibly require, in fact more than you could ever need, it was obvious that this is a much loved family cottage and not just a ‘holiday home’. We used both the open fire and the hot tub, which made our stay more special as we really looked forward to getting home in the evenings. The double bed was so comfy and warm I could hardly drag myself out of it.

Our grown up daughter slept in the second cottage, and I would recommend this arrangement to anyone with older children as they would love the independence of the second cottage, it would also give additional adults privacy.

We will definitely be visiting again.

“Don't look any further, you found the place you have been looking for!”

We stayed in this lovely cottage for 10 days with 5 adults and we fell in love with the place. We realized that we chose this cottage based on the positive reviews and that we didn't have a clue what it actually looked like. I think the pictures don't show the cottage itself to get an idea, but you can believe what everybody says: it's a great place to stay.
The view is amazing and changing every minute. We were so lucky to have breakfast outside at the sunny porch a couple of times and if you don't watch out, you don't want to go sightseeing anymore.
The cottage itself is cosy and very complete. The fireplace in the living room and the Jacuzzi outside are two valuable extra's.
The little house behind the cottage has two bedrooms and a toilet. It didn't bother us at all that we were separated from the main house. It gives you a bit more space.
The area is beautiful too. Although it is a little bit in the middle of nowhere, it is a perfect place to explore this part of Iceland. You can drive many different routes to reach any kind of destination, so don't be afraid that you have to drive the same road over and over again.
We have infected some people around us with our enthusiasm for Iceland and we definitely told them to stay in this cottage, even if it's only for a few days.
