We stayed here for a week and used it as a base for exploring Derbyshire by car and on foot. Despite a wet week, we enjoyed it. The cottage was delightful. It was clean, spacious, comfortable, warm (yes, we needed heating in June!), well-furnished and contained everything we could want (even a supply of books and DVDs). The owners were welcoming, friendly and helpful.
We recommend the fish & chip shop and the bakers in Crich village, and the local pubs for local atmosphere and a pint. Highlights for us were the Monday cattle market in Bakewell (but not Bakewell itself - touristy and v small), Chatsworth, the Tram Museum, Masson Mill, walks on The Roaches and Tissington Trail, Ashbourne, Sunday lunch in the Tavern at Tansley, the wonderful flowery hedgerows and a cream tea in Hartington.

Couldn't recommend this cottage more highly. A home from home. Great for visiting the Peak District..Very rural setting, but the owners are at the end of the track and very helpful. Will definitely book again.
The cottage was extremely comfortable, clean and tidy. Keith and Daryl were welcoming and very friendly. The cottage is in a perfect location for Ashbourne, Bakewell and Matlock as well as nearby Crich and Wirksworth. I would recommend Wakedon Cottage to small family groups and couples

The cottage is a real gem, easy to find, comfortable, peaceful and well equipped. The owners were helpful without being intrusive . The local area has some great places to go and visit, from the shops, pubs and eateries of Matlock bath and the heights of Abraham to the Tram museum and the local shops in Crich. The Station is nearby but its a very steep walk down the hill! so we walked down and got a taxi back!
The Cottage and gardens were great, very clean and tidy and even better than the pictures on the site appear . I would definitely recommend it to anyone.
