There is nothing not to like at this quaint hotel. It's not in need of refurbishment in my opinion, it's quaint and in keeping with it's surroundings being on the side of a mountain. If you need an example of a tired building go look at the monastery further up the hill. The mini villas are like little chalets with everything one needs to relax. Private terrace with furniture, reasonably priced mini bar that is restocked everyday with milk, soft drinks and beer, no children, friendly staff, good food and wine (served to you), clean beds, fresh towels and toiletries (& toothbrush, toothpaste, cotton wool, cotton buds, slippers, shower caps, shoe polish, shaving gear!!!!!), kettle, tea & coffee.
Kettle wont fit under tap - use a cup to fill it!
Wifi in room is 20TL (about £5) for the week - hardly break the bank!
Shower can be weak - give yourself more time to wash!
We hired a car for the week (driving is on the same side of the road as UK) and was up and down to Kyrenia, went to Famagusta and Nicosia. Some days we stayed by the pool where there is a poolside bar from 12-4.30. Lunch or snacks are served all afternnoon.
Checkout is 12 noon but we were leaving at 6p.m. so they let us keep our room til then.
We met a couple who have a place in Famagusta and came over to Kyrenia for the weekend regularly. They have used most of the hotels in and around Kyrenia and told us we had made an excellent choice. The hotels with casinos are mainly interested in the casino users. We had read about this and purposefully avoided those.
There is nothing that cannot be sorted out by the friendly staff. Our light didn't work on terrace/patio - it was dealt with immediately.
I have to say that we are not negative people and if we run into a problem we think of it as an adventure. No problems here though.
If you don't like this place then you must be pretty hard to please.

The Bellapais Monastery Village hotel is a little gem, full of old fashioned hospitality, nothing is too much trouble, It is sited in a pretty spot in the mountains above Kyrenia, very peaceful and relaxing. The rooms are in need of a little upgrade, particularily the bathrooms, showers are not very good - however, the rooms are spotlessley clean, towels changed daily, sheets every two days. The Hotel Restaurant is excellent, lots of choice to suit every taste with some nice wines too.
The staff are unfailingly friendly and helpful with free bus service into Kyrenia which is close by
Bellapais Village and Monastery is worth a visit, 10 minute plus uphill walk or quick cab service.

Room Tip: The main hotel building has rooms but the vast number of rooms are on various lterraces leading down to the pool and restaurant - quite a lot of stairs - no spa facilities were available when we were there. All the rooms on the teraces have a private patio area with chairs and table. A/C in the rooms is a bit noisy, but works well.

Great position overlooking the city of Kyrenia. Very clean with helpful staff. Bellapais is a beautiful village. Unfortunately, I could only stay for one night, I would have preferred longer. Enjoyed a beautiful sunset from my bedroom window and an excellent evening meal.

Whilst many will love this small hotel some will be concerned with its rather tired look. The hotel is 3 star standard not four but remember Turkish hotel star ratings are usually over rated. It is in need of refurbishment and some of the outer areas could be cleaner. However this does not necessarily detract from the overall experience of staying here. This place is for those seeking quiet and relaxation - ideal for couples or more mature travellers.

We stayed half board which provides excellent value as the jewel here is the excellent restaurant which overlooks the pool area. No mad rush or self service. You are waited on by the friendly and efficient excellent staff for both breakfast and dinner. If you are B/B you can still dine here on the a la carte but it could be a little expensive - all the food served is fresh hot with a great choice to a high standard..

Other plusses - no kids, no white plastic furniture (all dark wood even the sunbeds), no horrendous animation team or second rate entertainment and tea making facilities and low cost mini bar in your room. There is a courtesy bus to and from Kyrenia three times a day; just a pity it does not go to Bellapais a must visit village a mile away with its old monastery and pleasant restaurants. The bus will however take you to Oscars the much larger sister hotel located by the sea and manmade beach - this is worth a trip if only to give reassurance that your decision to stay at the monastery village was the right one !

Room Tip: If you have mobility issues rooms in the hotel or villas at lower level best option

After some rushed weeks at home we were searching for a place to wind down! That is what we got at Bellapais Monestry Village! We were pleasantly suprised to see a lovely beautiful hotel on the hills. We arrived late and were a little hungry. Although the kitchen was closed the wonderful host at the reception told us he could order something for us. It was a warm welcome!!

We had a wonderful apartment on the hill with amazing views. It was slightly chilly when we arrived but the apartment was warm and cozy. The apartment was cleaned everyday and looked spotless. If we wanted something extra like shampoo or towels, they were very helpful.

The service in our eyes was wonderful from everyone! The service at breakfast was fast and super friendly, they try to know your name (if you are there for a couple of days). The front desk was always so helpful and they made our trip very personal. An example: we that we had a birthday to celebrate and they tried to make it as personal as possible. Even helped us pick up a cake in Kyrenia! I have to give a big thumbs up to Mustafa, he works as a night manager most nights and was always cheerful, and the first to help if we had a question.

A place to visit to is the Kybele restaurant! It has the most breathtaking views that you can imagine! We went three times in one week! There was a shuttle service from the hotel to the restaurant. The location of the hotel is great because it is only ten minutes from Kyrenia, a wonderful harbour city. At the same the hotel has a quiet peaceful location!

When we go back to Cyprus we are defintely staying at BMV again!! No doubt in our mind!
