Arrived here after drive from Cornwall to be told that the hotel did not have a room for us. We booked through Booking.com but the hotel admitted that this was entirely their error. In the Manager's favour he invited us to dine in their restaurant that evening and offered a complimentary bottle of wine of our choice and also rang around to find us another room at a nearby hotel (this was awful though, see The Cromwell House Hotel). There was little we could do but accept with the view that the Manager had acted professionally and did what he could. Although not sure if he really did as much as he could. We had a drink at the nearby Cove inn where we were told that overbooking is not an infrequent occurrence at this hotel.
