“Lovely restaurant”
Reviewed 26 April 2014

A small intimate restaurant. Friendly staff and delicious food. Ideally situated in Lulworth Cove. Reasonably priced too.

“Fab location, fresh food made to order, friendly & attentive service”
Reviewed 24 April 2014 via mobile

Just back from Easter break in Lulworth and dined at the Dandelion twice, breakfast & lunch. First visit for lunch, mussels & soup were both fantastic - big fat fresh seafood in creamy garlicky white wine with lots of bread, soup was fresh and clearly home-made, again lots of fresh bread... Personal bug bear that butter was straight from fridge! location (sea-views) and relaxed family friendly atmosphere are wonderful and fresh leaf tea (herbal choices) always a winner for me. 2nd visit for breakfast, hollandaise haddock (again fresh and juicy) with eggs and muffins... All wonderful
We would head here over all other options in the cove, for fresh prepared food (yes you have to wait as it's not microwaved!), relaxed atmosphere and to support a local business rather than corporate gastro nonsense

“Incredibly busy, but still wonderfully fresh food”
Reviewed 24 April 2014

Over Easter we visited Lulworth Cove and had a late lunch at the Bistro, no menus but fresh food blackboards with lots of fish and shellfish. We chose mussels which were superb and fish and chips it was haddock thick and juicy and sweet. It is amazing that so many people were served when it is all so fresh not the typical pre prepared fare. I do not usually bother to write reviews but the situation and the fresh food was just memorable, I imagine with less people it is even better.

“Avoid at all costs.”
Reviewed 22 April 2014

20 minutes to get served to 2 drinks, bar staff all walking around trying to look busy. The person supposedly running the place was serving himself behind the bar, just turning a blind eye to what was going on. The toilets were out of use, and no signs up to say. Sorry but you let yourselves and the area down.

“Sadly falls short of the standard of our previous visits”
Reviewed 22 April 2014 via mobile

Looking at an earlier review it appears that the Dandelion Cafe is under new management. Unfortunately with the new management standards appear to have slipped from our previous visits. Admittedly the two occasions we had gone there before were out of season and service and food were very good then. However we went there Easter Saturday after our walk to Durdle Door and it couldn't have been more different. Service was slow and the few waitresses who were on duty appeared to be run off their feet. In fact one of them told us that they were so short staffed and she was working 16 hour shifts. Many of the diners there were looking bewildered and fed up with the long wait for their food. We only had a sandwich and a panini so fortunately our wait was not too long and quality was OK. However our coffee and cakes were not too impressive for the price charged. The 'regular' sized coffees were served in what appeared to be small sugar bowls. We were offered the choice of small or regular so can only assume the 'small' coffees would have been served in a thimble! The cake was more of a shop bought quality and not the delicious homemade as it was before. I realise there is little competition at Lulworth but this should not be a reason to offer poor service, skimp on quality and charge high prices. Let's hope the new manager can learn from customer reviews and improve to the service and quality standards offered by the previous management.
