“Outstanding little hotel”
Reviewed 31 October 2013 via mobile

We stayed here for a weekend in October and were blown away by this little hotel. We had dropped in for a drink here a few years ago and it was pretty ordinary. It has had a complete and thoughtful makeover since then and just lovely, with lots of quirky features to entertain and delight. The welcome was warm and friendly, the breakfast was good and our room (number 9) had a beautiful view. It is a perfect location for walking on the coast and enjoying the surrounding area.

Popped in for a light snack and coffee! Unfortunately they couldn't help the fact the power had gone down preventing the kitchen from running smoothly. But to run outta cold options like cheese and ham seems like lack of stock control. Shame really. Would return but not in a hurry

Thank you for your comments, but as we had no pwer at the time of your visit to our Inn, for food safety reasons we have to preserve the temperature of our fridges and food contained within them for as long as possible until the power supply resumes by not opening the appliance doors. This ensures the food we serve to our guests is safe and fresh at all times. So not having food available when there is no power ensures this and prvents uncessary stock losses. So we are sorry that we were not able to feed you

Ideally located for the Cove and local walks. We had a delightful room with lots of themed ornaments and lively decor. Breakfast very good. Had dinner in the restaurant one night, food very good. I was irritated when staff refused our request to move to a less cramped table, although we had pre-booked and the table we asked to move to was taken much later by a party of two same as us. Pretty good value considering the prime location.

We visited the above hotel in October. It was a great experience from start to finish. The restaurant/bar has a modern decor with some quirky touches which make it feel more cosy, you feel right at home the minute you step through the door. We ate in the restaurant on Saturday lunch and evening, the afternoon was so busy we had to wait a while to check in which we considered a good sign! In the evening we had the Steak and Ale pie, it was delicious. So much so the restaurant ran out of pies as everyone was raving about the dish. We loved the option of trying out the mini puds for 1.99 which were all delicious, would definitely recommend.

The room we stayed in had a lovely seaview and we couldn't fault it. The bathroom had a huge shower with low lighting which came on when you entered the bathroom meaning you didnt have to feel around at night for the light. There was every tea and coffee to be sampled along with hot chocolate in the room and we were pleasantly surprised that parking across the road in the public car park with a pass provided by the hotel was so easy.

The scenery is breathtaking at Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door and we will definitely be visiting again. We had a great stay and the staff were friendly and polite. Only downside was we had to leave. Would recommend!

This is an example of how to do hospitality. We visited in early October, mid-week at after 4pm, as every other outlet in Lulworth was either closed or closing, or not at all interested in serving customers. So with some trepidation we went in and were immediately delighted by the fresh, cosy, pleasant decor, and the immediate friendliness of the staff. We had an 8 month old baby in tow, and wanted food - the staff could not have been more helpful. Of course they were serving food, of course they had a high chair, of course we could sit outside at the (wonderfully) non smoking tables, and the manager even carried the high chair out for us as we settled in to enjoy the views. The menu was brought promptly and when we ordered drinks, they were also brought to our table by another pleasant staff member. Badger beers on tap - Dorset - so all was good. We enjoyed excellent baguette sandwiches and salad, with plenty of fresh filling.

The toilet facilities were worth a trip - immaculate and with a good baby change facility in the disabled loo.

This really, really is worth a trip. Well done to the staff for making us so welcome and rescuing us from the poor attitude of some of Lulworth's other food outlets!

Had trouble booking with the Internet web site, but got sorted the next day. Sunday & Monday nights sorted and all we need is reasonable weather. The poor TA reviews were all for before the refurb.

A good welcome even though it was very busy with Sunday lunches. Rooms sorted, table booked for supper, bags in rooms and off out to look at the cove & the door.

The Inn has had a massive refurb earlier this year and it is now very good. The rooms are manic shabby chic - someone should have known when to stop, hardly room to swing a cat but full marks for effort. It's modern, clean and quality. Everywhere is well detailed, has high quality appointments, is kept clean & shining and the staff are GREAT!

We had a good afternoon walking the cove & door and had a relaxing drink on the first floor terrace - a well chilled Prosecco. Then downstairs for supper in the busy restaurant. So busy that several items were off the menu - shame. However the sirloin steaks were very good, the Parmesan chicken went down well, so did the salmon skewers. The wine by the glass was good but I found the Badger beer too cold from the cask - no old fashioned barrels - shame.

Breakfast was excellent - good choice, well cooked, lots of fruit, OK coffee and some French pastries. Very good.

Another day in lovely Dorset. Corfe Castle is a ruin and pricey to get in, Studland is lovely and deserted, but Swanage was a disappointment.
Day two supper was very good - the pair of pies were smashing and everyone was happy with their grub. And off to bed.

The second breakfast was just as good, variety and quality food.
Checkout was easy and the billing system is very efficient and accurate. We were sad to leave, we had a smashing time and the Lulworth Cove Inn was an excellent base for a break.

There were some small problems, but the staff were helpful and pleasant so everything got sorted.

We were very impressed and we aim to return for another break.
