The cove is a great place to take the kids. From the carpark a sign saying 1/4 mile to the beach looked daunting but we walked along a path full of little shops, cafes and the inn and in no time at all we were on the beach.

The boat trip from the cove to visit Durdle Door was good value and the kids loved it.

We stopped at the cafe for a little snack and all commented that this was the best place we had visited this week on hols.

Thoroughly recommended

Unfortunately, we visited on a beautiful day, sun blazing and the whole of Dorset trying to park at the cove!
Plenty of parking meant we secured a spot and headed to the bay.
Beautiful as it is, the tide was fully in and this meant we were sat very near to everyone else.

Avoid weekends and bank holidays if you want a little privacy.

This beautiful area is a must especially if you have young children with you. The beach is rocky but has lots of rock pools which children love. The walks around the cove are really something not to be missed. I have been here several times throughout the years and never find it boring. Car park fills up very quickly in Summer get there early. Take picnic as beach also fills up fast and although there are several eating venues it can be expensive if you have have children. Toilets are a issue and need re vamping to cope with large numbers. This is not another sea side resort but a place of nature & beauty with basic facilities. Just take it as you find it and enjoy the views from the top of the hill.

We parked up at Durdle Dor and set off over the hill towards Lulworth Cove. Some beautiful views out to sea and of the bays. The walk on the Lulworth side is fairly steep and difficult in both directions. Lulworth had many lovely cafés and we enjoyed a cake and drink. The beach was lovely and we sat a while. My wife even braved a swim. We hiked back across to see the dor and this too was pleasant. We didn't head down to the beach here but enjoyed the sites.

First you queue for the car park, then you pay £5 for the day. The landscape is pleasant but not exceptional, the cove itself has sharp stones, you can't paddle as there are slippery rocks. if you are female and want to use the not very nice toilets there is a very long queue. the limitless road to the cove has chip vendors tat shops and a couple of neglected looking eateries. as we made our way back to the car park we had to move back out of the way of a large German coach, wondered what they thought about being taken to this tatty overcrowded nightmare of a place.
