I really enjoyed my stay ta the Red Lion in Tarvin, this local pub with rooms is brilliant and great value for money.
The welcome was the warmest anyone could wish for by the owners and the locals.
The room was large and comfortable with excellent comfortable bed with crisp clean linen, the room had all you required, even a DVD player.

The bathroom was good, with nice shower and good towels.

The pub is friendly and locals welcoming and friendly, the pub does some excelent ales, but no food for this you will find a good chippy across the road along with a very good brasserie restaurant The Gunnery.

Except some noise from the street but this is my only point to raise.

Cannot wait to return to both the Red Lion and Tarvin; really excellent.

Enjoyed a great stay here, we found the rooms to be clean and tidy. This was a great location to stay with lots of local places to visit and very handy for visiting Chester. The new landlords very helpful in advising us on places to visit and we enjoyed a nice evening in the bar and even joined in the quiz. Would not hesitate in stating here again found it to be clean, comfortable and an excellent base to visit the area.

Stayed here whilst visiting Chester and attending a wedding. A nice change from hotel chains. The landlord and Landlady are very helpful and accommodating. Tea and coffee in the morning with a very good breakfast served next door. Taxi into Chester cheap and reliable. Overall a great weekend, thanks

Staff are friendly and welcoming, go out of there way to help you. Landlord and land lady are very welcoming and pleasent. Great location as only five miles to chester, bus stops are close by less than a five mintute walk if you dont want to pay for parking in chester £4 on the bus return. Good value for money plenty of refeshments, with beautifully freshly ironed bedding which gave me a brilliant sleep. They dont serve food but the gunnery, the george and dragon, the fish and chip shop and the chinese are less than a five minute walk and if you want breakfast you have a choice of jessops and the local cafe. The pub has lively atmosphere but is quiet on week days the locals are friendly and i will definatly be staying there again. Loved it!!

Stayed here for two nights whilst visiting the Kelsall Steam Show and the Kelsall Hill Horse Trials.
Staff were very pleasant and the rooms were clean and comfortable.

Have read some reviews that say it was noisy but at the end of the day we are staying in a village pub! The pub closes at 12.30 so its not too late for the noise.

I would certainly stay here again and recommended it, but if you want a quiet room to go to bed early, then this isn't the place.

The new owners have big hearts and I am sure this pub will do well. Tarvin is a difficult market, there isn't a massive market in Tarvin and part of any success will be the community aspect. It seems that the new owner have this in mind. The pub is tiny, and there are a few odd punters but it's a good experience and well worth visiting.

sorry to say i wouldnt stay here again we were here on fri and sat 7th and 8th of sep for a wedding at the wild boar inn it was ok for a couple of nights but there was a 21st party on the sat and didnt finish till 3 in the morning there was a marque in the car park next to the cars we couldnt get to sleep for people fighting, breaking windows, and swearing, it didnt help that the windows were single glazing and the toilet window didnt close the beds were were clean and comfortable but it really does need a refit and decorating the stairs are very narrow no good for elderly people im 70 but fit but it would be no good for anyone with a disability, it is advertised as having a restaurant it does not, it does not do breakfast as advertised it does not have cots, and does not have a dvd player.the landlady was friendly but we were made to pay as soon as we got there usualy you pay when you leave but it was handy for the wedding .

Room Tip: dont stay more than a couple of nights its a pub with rooms to let.
