I visited the New Village restaurant with my wife for a belated Valentines meal and I have to say we were very impressed. The restaurant is very clean and well presented, not too large and ideal for couples or larger groups. We were looked after very well by the staff and the food was of the highest standard. We had the seaweed starter which is a mixed starter of spring rolls, BBQ ribs, prawn toast, wontons and crispy seaweed. This was then followed with main courses of shredded fillet steak in Cantonese sauce, sizzling lamb and of course the obligatory fried rice. All the food was hot and absolutely delicious. In fact, we enjoyed our meal so much we also had dessert, banana fritters with ice cream and lychees. The background music was tasteful and varied which added nicely to overall ambience of the restaurant. Price wise it is pretty much on a par with most Chinese restaurants, our meal with 2 glasses of red wine and 2 beers cost around £55 which is reasonable. Overall we were more than satisfied with our visit to the New Village and will definitely be returning here again soon.
