Delisha must be the closest sandy beach to the capital city of Socotra, Hadibo. It’s in about half an hour drive along the relatively good paved road. Therefore many travellers start their acquaintance with Socotra from here… And wisely so.
The little scenic beach of Delisha with a single vertical white sandy dune only hints on what fantastic beauty there is further to see in Socotra! It only prepares your imagination to the grandeur of Archer with its duplex sand dunes…
The sole sand dune of Delisha looks as if some sky giant dropped his sugar pot on the ground, where it cracked letting the white substance out. It is very well seen from Dihamri diving centre, located further eastwards along the coast.
There was not a single other traveler in Delisha when we arrived. No wonder I enjoyed this place tremendously. There were no organized camping facilities and no sources of shadow. Just the lagoon, the magnificent sea and the deserted sandy beach running towards the mountains, where it turns into a stony one.
The sea in Delisha is perfectly deep, with rather strong current and clear water. It was such a fantastic swim! I didn’t feel like getting out of the water for hours...
You may find Delisha a bit disappointing if you come here at the end of your travel around the island. But it makes a wonderful opening to the majestic beauty of Socotra. Don’t miss it at the beginning of your trip.
