“Delightful place to stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 March 2014 via mobile

We stayed here with my wife's family for the weekend, the service was first class, booking was nice and easy, all my emails were quickly answered. The roundhouses themselves were delightful and comfortable. We had a meal in the bar, which was very good, the chef came out and had a chat, and the serving staff were very good. The meal excellent and didn't cost the earth. Everyone from our 15 strong group have all vowed to return. Overall, very good service from start to finish at a reasonable price.

Familiar with the area and Hermanus for many years and always fancied staying in one of the little pepperpot houses, but never got round to it - until now. And it was absolutely fantastic.
My only concern beforehand was they have been there for a long time and may be a little shabby on the inside, but no worries there at all. Recent refurbishment has left these delightful little pocket houses with a modern, high-spec, practical interior.Heating, shower, furniture, decor, televisions all superb and thoughfully laid out. Cosy, quiet and quirky. Would you rather have a B&B room somewhere else or your own little private house here? No contest.

For my husband's birthday, I decided to book one night in one of the round houses as I was intrigued by them and I'm really glad I did as we both thought it was fab! We stayed in one of the refurbished sea view houses and I think we were probably one of the first people to stay since the refurbishment as it was all brand new and spotless. It was also incredibly warm and cosy and had everything we needed for a short stay. The bedroom was understandably a little bijou as would be expected but that would not put us off from staying for more than one night in the future. It was out of season so very quiet around us but that was just what we wanted. The beach at Winterton is stunning and we had a meal at the pub in the village which we found to be very friendly and welcoming with good quality pub food. Some parts of the holiday complex could do with a bit of updating but all in all, a great place to stay and made a nice change from a hotel room! We would definitely stay here again.

We stayed one night in a roundhouse and it was great !! The accommodation we had was clean, comfortable & warm no problem with anything , it was basic but you don't get The Ritz for £55 !
We went across and had the carvery at the Highwayman , fantastic , great value for a very good meal - we had the pleasure of chatting with Stuart & Pawel the chefs and although they have only been there since last June it sounds as though word is getting around about the quality of their cooking, we will certainly be back in the Summer to try the full restaurant experience !
The location is brilliant , a quick walk and you are on the sandy beach and you can find real peace & quiet here if you want to.
Highly recommended.

We have just spent three nights over the New Year period including New Year's Eve and had a wonderful time! This was our second trip to Hermanus.
The Roundhouse's are old and tired and could clearly do with a facelift but guess this would reflect on the price which currently is a bargain.
The cleanliness cannot be faulted. The beds are the traditional old double and a little uncomfortable but the other facilities out weigh this. They are also charming, quiet and serviced by a team of very well trained, mannered and contentious team of staff.
Where else can you literally open your own front door and walk along miles and miles of one of the cleanest and most beautiful beaches in England?
Guests have full use of the club facilities, which include a restaurant offering breakfast, lunch and dinner. There is also a bar where prices are not over inflated and you can purchase any type of drink including a nice bottle of wine to drink in or take back to your accommodation with take away food if you so choose. You can also be as unsociable as you like and no one will bother you if you want peace and quiet.
On New Year's Eve we were invited to join the festivities which included a bar and disco; all for no fee. {we could have had a three course dinner should we have wanted to at a reasonable cost}
The evening was well organised and probably the best New Year's Eve I've had in a while!! We danced the night away in a warm and kind atmosphere.
We will definitely be returning with our dog to enjoy this beautiful facility and area of England.

Room Tip: Roundhouses are quaint, quiet and personal! We have No 29 as we travel with our hound!

Just come home yesterday from spending a lovely weekend break in a roundhouse overlooking the sea. Read some mixed reviews regarding cleanliness our overall impression was an amazing place to stay basic but spotlessly clean lovely & warm, restaurant food was amazing best steak I've tasted in a long time, carvery brill food overall well worth every penny.
Had a very warm welcome from all staff reception through to bar staff all very friendly & accommodating.
Had a wonderful walk along the beach & wow what a wonderful site seals & new born seal pups everywhere will definitely be returning before end of jan.

Room Tip: Roundhouse 18 beautiful view

I'm sorry to say, but this place was bloody awful, we stayed in a hut, which looked lovely from the outside but oh dear inside it can only be described as dirty and smelly! We walked in, awful pong like damp and musty, there was what looked like talc inside the drawers and wardrobes, needless to say we kept our clothes in our cases, dead flies lurking in the bathroom, the toilet was very old with chipped paint on the seat, the bathroom floor, in fact all the floors in the hut looked like they needed a good clean, the shower was a joke, either burning hot or freezing cold and if more than one of you wants a morning shower, the second person gets freeezing cold water cos the tank is clearly too small! whats wrong with installing a power shower! the loft hatch was half open which freaked my daughter out, the sofa bed which she was expected to sleep on was filthy so we decided to keep it closed and she slept on the top of the sofa on her sleeping bag, but the worse was to come, we pulled back the sheets of our bed and there's no way that they were fresh sheets, in fact it looked like someone had recently got out of the bed! We complained as you can imagine and they were changed! We would have left and gone elsewhere were it not for the fact that we were so tired ! I know the place is old and probably one of the cheapest we've ever stayed in ( we normally go on cruise holidays!) but there's no excuse for dirty accommodation! I would never go back there, they clearly need the hotel inspector to sort this place out! I wouldn't let a dog stay there!

Room Tip: Don't go there is my advice!
