“Spectacular venue!”
Reviewed 9 November 2013 via mobile

We chose this venue to hold a showcase event for Audi..... We were not disappointed. Right from the moment we arrived until the moment we left, Ballathie and her staff were amazing. Reception were very welcoming and accommodating, waiters and waitresses were also extremely polite and nothing was too much trouble.

The catering on the day was of the finest quality and extremely tasty.

The grounds and the picturesque landscape make this a spectacular place to hold an event of our kind, coupled with the enthusiasm and helpfulness of the staff, one doesn't have to worry about anything, a somewhat nice feeling when you work in the events business, as I do.

My only disappointment (and this is nothing to do with Ballathie) is the company I was working for didn't book us into stay overnight at Ballathie :-(
After having worked on our event here we will definitely return for a pleasure stay rather than business.

Thanks again for all your help and ensuring a successful event.

Sister, daughter & son-in-law finished up a week of celebrations for my 65th birthday with an Afternoon tea here. I thought it was quite exceptional, daughter & her husband are both vegetarians and unable to eat peppers and they were very well catered for (quite unusual). Amongst sandwiches there was little crostini's with a tomato fondue & mozzarella cheese, lovely .The two meat eaters were well served with a variety of tasty sandwiches and little rolls. The scones were still warm and beautifully fresh. Add to that 4 very tasty cakes, shortbread & biscuits each and plenty tea & coffee served. All in all a very pleasant time. in a beautiful setting was had & I would recommend it to anyone.

Dear Scotlandmisty,

It was wonderful to host you for your post 65th birthday celebrations – thank-you for choosing Ballathie as your venue.

Our pastry team of Heather and Lin under the watchful eye of Scott, have really upped their game with freshly baked cakes and breads. The front of house team lead by Gail has also pulled their weight and introduced 9 loose leaf teas to select from. I am delighted that you enjoyed your afternoon tea with us. Thank-you for your appreciation.

I do hope that you return soon to our haven on the Tay .

Kind regards,

Had a lovely time. Came up for a couple of days with my wife - primarily to visit the Black Watch museum in Perth and to get away from it all for a bit! BW museum was very moving for me - especially when saw my Grandad's name on the wall of remembrance. Would recommend the museum to anyone visiting the area BUT rather than stay in Perth, I'd get straight back to the hotel afterwards. It really is a gem. We had some lovely walks in the grounds, up the drive then through the woods down to the river. The hotel is staffed by some lovely people. The ladies at reception were great, the bar staff were great and the waiting staff (we dined here twice) were great. The South African chap (sorry didn't get your name) is a total professional - I love the fact that there are still people like him working in this industry. The food was fantastic.

Stayed here in October for three nights in the Riverside Rooms with wonderful views to the Tay and open fields. Accommodation was perfect, very comfortable and well appointed. The only negative was the rather tired en suite badly in need of repair and redecoration, however everything worked and lots of hot water.
Our welcome from reception staff was warm and friendly. Afternoon tea served in the drawing room delightful with wonderful scones. Dinner was excellent, beautifully presented and quite delicious - all served by attentive and friendly staff. Unfortunately there was some hiccup with breakfast on one of the mornings as it arrived cold, with an egg minus yolk! This was dealt with professionally by the waiting staff and was reflected in our final bill.
All in all a beautiful hotel, and an experience we would repeat in the future.

This hotel for us certainly did not meet what we expected, when we arrived the reception staff were not very welcoming we had booked a riverside room the reception staff just gave us the room key and said your room is 100 yards down the track road. when we arrived at our room it was very cold with no heating on.My wife as a back problem and found the matteress very hard we asked if they had a matteress topper or an additional duvet she could have we asked three for this but no duvet had appeared before we left.
Standard of the food and presentation was to a very high standard, restaurant staff were very helpful and caring. Will not be returning.

This was our second visit to Ballathie House having been so charmed by it the first time when we only stayed one night this time we stayed two. The food is excellent and the simplified menu in the Bistro provides a pleasant change from "fine dining" for one night while maintaining the intrinsic high standard of the main restaurant. This visit, together with our young dog, we enjoyed a beautiful riverside room with views of the Tay and direct access to the garden. Jody is clearly respected, liked and admired by his team and this shows in the way they cared for us. We will be returning in the spring hopefully to enjoy the grounds and the forest in better weather. Great hotel, comfortable beds, beautiful spot and excellent service. Thank you.

Room Tip: Sportsman Lodge rooms are basic but comfortable and clean and a serious economical way to enjoy this...
