Stayed here last Sunday night and had an excellent experience. Very friendly and helpful staff especially the lad serving in the bar. Great dinner with plenty choice and breakfast was all you would want except that every time I looked for orange juice there was none left. A minor irritant in an otherwise faultless visit.

Dear 750Graham,

Thank-you for taking the time in writing a review about Ballathie.

I am sorry about your breakfast experience with our orange juice. I have taken this up with the Food and Beverage team and they have assured me that more attention to detail will be focused– I appreciate your comments.

I am delighted that this did not taint your stay in anyway. I have passed your comments onto Paul, our barman, who was delighted that he was able to exceed your expectations.
We do hope that we get to see you again when you are traveling down from up North.

Kind regards,

Jody Marshall
General Manager

We had afternoon tea with sandwiches and cakes etc and it was very well done there was more than enough and the staff were wonderful. Nothing was to much trouble and they made sure that there was plenty of coffee etc. I think whoever is in charge should be very proud of both the hotel and staff.

Dear Scotishlady55,

Thank-you for taking the time to write a review about Ballathie.

Scott and his Kitchen team work hard to produce everything individually for our afternoon tea offering. This attention to detail, coupled with our enthusiastic front of house team who he has trained is a recipe that has proved to be a hit with most of our guests. Thank-you for your appreciation!

I am exceptionally proud of our team – possibly the most privileged hotel manager in Scotland.
We look forward to welcoming you to the banks of the Tay in the not too distant future.

Kind regards,

Jody Marshall
General Manager

Picture a stone walled, traditional estate surrounded by beautifully kept grounds and the river Tay. Add in friendly, helpful and smiling staff. And just to top it off, wonderful food and service in the dining room. In the rooms are walking trail maps for the grounds and a brochure for bird spotting, along with Walker's Shortbread on the tea/coffee tray. It all equals a fabulous experience.

Room Tip: rooms on the second floor back side have views of the river

Dear Dita Tee,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review about Ballathie.

We are all delighted that you enjoyed your stay with us. This year we are putting extra emphasis onto our grounds and Mark our gardener is pulling out all of the stops to ensure the gardens stay fantastic. It is wonderful to read your appreciation – thank you.

We look forward to welcoming you back to Ballathie in the Autumn when the leaves are turning and our grounds take on a different shade of spectacular…

it is testament to the popularity of Ballathie House that when I tried to book it for the weekend for my husband's 60th birthday celebrations it was already fully booked.
I was nervous about going elsewhere as we love Ballathie, so I booked an alternative hotel further north for three nights, choosing to spend the actual birthday at Ballathie so we could be assured of an enjoyable stay.
We were not disappointed.
Reception and the booking in process is seldom slick and on this occasion was slower than usual. However there were no weddings/corporate events and we survived unscathed.
We were staying in the suite on the ground floor, which is ideal as we have a dog and it gives easy access to the grounds. The suite is situated next to the kitchen, so your access to the hotel is not the best. The living room appears to have been decorated since our last visit, though the bathroom is in dire need of a makeover.
The hotel is extremely busy and the Drawing Room furniture is beginning to show some signs of wear.
However these are niggly issues. The restaurant service and food at Ballathie are excellent. General Manager Jody Marshall is to be commended for the positive changes he has made since taking up post.
Ever time we return to Ballathie it's like coming home. We are made to feel welcome, and a considerable amount of work has taken place on the various walks through the Ballathie grounds, which enhance the visitor experience.

Room Tip: Try a room in the main hotel and avoid weekends if possible.

Dear Mrskrankie,

Thank-you for taking the time to write your third review about Ballathie.

Many of the issues you talk about in your above review are items which we are currently being solved. I appreciate your eye to detail and you care for wanting to make Ballathie a success.

For me the highlight of your review is your words, “Ever time we return to Ballathie it's like coming home”. For me, this is the essence of Ballathie and something we are continually aspiring to achieve – Thank-you for these kind words.

I hope we do not have to wait another year before you are able to appreciate all of the improvements we are implementing…..

Kind regards,

Jody Marshall
