Absolutely fantastic stay. Margaret could not have been kinder or more attentive, nothing was too much trouble for her and I was extremely well looked after. One night's stay turned into four so that should give you some measure of the place. I wholeheartedly recommend this establishment and its owner.

Thank you for your absolutely fantastic gift! I will treasure it forever. You came here as a stranger and left as a fried. Keep on the road - our very brave soldier. Always happy to accommodate and participate in your charitable events. xx

After a long and tiring journey and having telephoned the hotel to explain we would be arriving late (the instruction was no later than 11.30pm and we arrived at 11.15pm.) We had to suffer a tirade of abuse. We were then locked out of the 'hotel' with our bags inside. We were treated like criminals as she shouted to the 'CCTV camera' to watch us in case we stole valuable tools from other guests cars!! In astounded disbelief, we made a hasty retreat and found another hotel down the road 'The Menzies' where we were welcomed accordingly and treated as a customer should be. I'd advise all to spend their money elsewhere.

When you checked in with your bags, no mention was made of the 2 DOGS in your car. We have a policy " NO PETS ALLOWED" - our CCTV showed you attempting to bring them into the property.

The tirade of abuse I received was totally unacceptable and that was why you were asked to leave.

My wife and I arrived for an anniversary break to explore the east coast of Scotland. The prior reviews are correct. Margaret, our host, could not have been more attentive to our needs. She made reservations at a restaurant which held our table until we could make the late arrival. Upon our return after eating, Margaret had a bottle of wine and 2 glasses awaitng us. The next day, she gave us travel tips and some interesting information on the nearby abbey in Kilwinning.

We stayed in the family room which had its own private entrance. The rooms were as large as a small flat, complete with full size couch, 2 reclining chairs, gas fireplace and very large screen tv. Tall windows with blackout curtains overlooked the yard. The bedroom was in a separate room with its own tv. The spotless ensuite bath was adjacent. Full Scottish breakfast awaited us each morning. Note, it is quiet and you might oversleep!

The internet is a bit spotty and you might not have a signal in your room, but Margaret has a spot in the breakfast area where it works just fine. As noted, no credit card so come prepared with acceptable payment.

We will be back. The personal attention of the owner, Margaret, makes all the difference.

Room Tip: Family room is the size of a small flat and has its own, private entrance.

We booked 3 rooms for 7 people and we arrived at 21h... Margaret was waiting for us and she was very kind and effective. She even reserved a table for dinner at the Ship Inn at Irvine. Rooms and facilities are excellent, its not expensive although you cannot pay by credit card.
