We stayed at this hotel for a week at the start of July 2014 and were very, very impressed - we didn't want to leave and would recommend it to anyone. Being adults only, the hotel has a really relaxed, quiet feeling with no children tearing around and makes for a great base for a lovely holiday.

Staff - All the staff we spoke to were exceptionally helpful and spoke decent English which was just as well as our Greek was a little lacking! The reception staff were very friendly and helped us arrange hire cars and excursions, booking them on our behalf. We were met in person by the hotel manager when we checked in who gave us a tour when we arrived. The waiting staff are all very attentive and the cleaning staff very efficient too, all in all the staff seemed to enjoy working at the hotel as much as the guests enjoyed staying there.

Room - We were in 219 which overlooks the swimming pool from the second floor. It was a good size and had air conditioning which worked very well. The bathroom was well equipped and the balcony has a fantastic view out over the bay from which you can watch ships roll in and out of the bay. The beds were comfy and other than my (alleged) snoring, there were no noise complaints.

Facilities - The pool is lovely and allows you to float around as you watch over the town centre down below, there are plenty of sunbeds and you can dine either out on the patio or inside. There's lots of parking and whilst we didn't use them, you can also play tennis at the hotel's own court. On Tuesdays they had a Greek night with musicians and dancers - wear something light as you WILL be compelled to join in at some point!

Location - The hotel is at most a 15 minute walk from Zakynthos Town Centre, we walked down the hill each time we went there to eat or wonder around the harbour staring at the yachts. There's a shop at the end of the hotel's drive and within about a 10 minute walk from the hotel you can reach two vantage points giving you different views down over the town (left out the drive, across at the crossroad and up the hill or instead, right and follow the red and yellow 'panorama' signs). It's about 15 minutes drive from the airport which was great, no issue with noise from the planes though.

Food - You can eat like a horse if you wish or keep it healthy. We went all inclusive, breakfast offers cereals, toast, cooked breakfast items, fruit etc whilst dinner offers all sorts including Greek salads, beef, chicken, bread etc. We didn't end up getting lunch at the hotel so can't say what it's like as we were always out, all in all the food was really good though. Only negative comment I'd make is that with my girlfriend being a strict vegetarian, she'd have preferred for the vegetarian options to have been marked as such as it wasn't always clear and sometimes it appeared the same utensils were used for meat and veggie options - I think this is something common to the region rather than just this hotel mind.

All in all, fantastic and the hotel feels like it should have much more stars than the three it claims - brilliant stay and we'd like to go back soon!

Room Tip: The majority of the rooms overlook the pool/dining area and look down over the bay - these are defin...

We stayed in this lovely hotel for 1 week in the middle of June in a Sea view room and had an amazing & super relaxing time.

The hotel has a great location and is up a little hill which gives you amazing views overlooking the sea & the little harbor. Those views could also be enjoyed whilst using the Infinity Pool & Terrace. This was our first time in an adult’s only hotel & I must say we have never felt so relaxed and tranquil in a very long time.

Veronica & Maria from reception gave us a very warm welcome & are always happy to help. The Staff is on the whole excellent with special mentions for Costa and Janis and the very young waiter (sorry didn’t catch his name) who constantly remain professional, friendly and fun. A big thank you to the chef’s the freshly cooked food was very tasty and changed on a daily basis. We would have loved to take one of them home to cook for us ;). Thank you so much for your kindness, friendliness and for making our holidays memorable.

The hotel can be easily reached by taxi from the airport and the costs are around EUR 14.00 one way. The hotel reception is happy to arrange car, scooter & Squad hire for you and the prices are fairly reasonable. A free shuttle service is offered by the hotel which takes you twice a day to the next beach in Tsvili and 4 or 5 times a day into Zante Town.

There is a little mini market in walking distance to the hotel grounds. A visit to the Panorama Café is a must; it is about 15-20 minutes walking distance from the hotel but it’s well worth going there. The food is typical Greek & very tasty. Try one of their special drinks but be aware they are very rich but ever so nice. I had a peach & vanilla ice cream flavour which was recommended by the friendly young waitress.

Room Tip: pay a little extra to get a room with Sea view it's well worth it.

We stayed here at the beginning of June when it was very quiet, but it started warming up by the later half of the week.

As mentioned the views, food, cocktails (thanks Giannas!) were all absolutely wonderful, but it was the attentive and friendly service that makes Aquis Avalon stand out. We've never stayed anywhere that the staff go to such lengths to make your stay unforgettable.

All in all the hotel is very clean, you can be guaranteed a sun bed at any time throughout the day, the pool is incredible.

Downsides are: the free wifi is very temperamental and not available in either of the two bedrooms we stayed in. The hotel was very quiet - nice for a peaceful change, but at times it could seem like you were in The Shining. The music played at dinner was very welcome, but I would have liked some soft jazz around the pool/terrace area during the day too. The 'blue flag' beach at Tsvilli to which the hotel runs a free shuttle is not very nice. Might be worth exploring other beach to transport the guests to?

We loved the Aquis Avalon, and would recommend it to anyone looking for the other side of Zante.

Echoing many of the previous reviews - this really is a great place to come for a relaxing stay. Most guests are couples, from a variety of nations. The staff are on the whole excellent with special mentions for Costa, the bar lady and Janis who constantly remain professional, friendly and fun. The rooms are fine - but we hardly spent any time in ours due to the main selling point - the infinity pool and the view that goes with it. The food is of good variety and very tasty. We spent a week and there are things to do if you don't want to laze by the pool all day - trips to beach and town for free or boat trips around the island and turtle viewing trips for a good price. Location is perfect - cheap and short taxi ride from airport and away from tourist area. As the place is in the process of becoming bigger and better - I really recommend coming this summer if you are thinking of it as the value is outstanding. Also, as there aren't too many guests ATM there is a very friendly atmosphere and the guests get on well. It deserves all these good ratings and will surely keep on rising.

A great hotel tucked away in to the mountain. For two people who wanted an all inclusive, no worries, someone else does everything, no kids, peaceful holiday, this was great.

Short taxi ride from the airport (about 13 euro) so no need to worry about transfers. Also, you will not regret paying a little extra for the stunning sea view, looking over the harbor.

The best feature has to be the staff - warm and friendly throughout the stay. Food-wise - think local and homely, which the staff are rightly proud of. Fresh, with a good selection. Same can be said for the drinks too.

The hotel was clean and well maintained, if not seeming new with perhaps a couple of loose ends to tie off. Good mix of people all staying there too. Plenty to do nearby, but not really within walking distance - the hotel really is peaceful and isolated. The hotel does run a minibus to the town and beach every day, where there is plenty to break up the peace and quite.

Believe the good reviews - they are all true!

Room Tip: Definitely get the sea view - great to wake up to.
