I have to be honest, prior to travelling I read some of the reviews on here and wasn't getting my hopes up with regards to this hotel! I STAND CORRECTED!

The hotel is in a FANTASTIC location, with breath taking views, a gorgeous pool and plenty of sun loungers, (there were always empty ones) however I will admit there was a lack of parasols.

We had a room on the ground floor with a sea view, and we couldn't have asked for better. My only criticism would be that we had a slightly dodgy air com system so in the evening you are either freezing cold, (sleeping with the duvet and the towels over you) or boiling hot! I sure this is something the hotel will rectify. Other than that, the rooms are cleaned every day, towels replaced and generally of a good standard. Admittedly there are some wires hanging out of the walls but the hotel isn't finished so don't expect a finished product.

The FOOD; a lot of people have criticised the food. The food isn't bad, there was about 6/7 choices for lunch and for dinner alongside an adequate salad selection. We went "All Inclusive" but chose to eat out most evenings, not through fault of the food in the hotel just because we wanted to explore the nearby towns and experience traditional Greek food! Breakfast and Lunch was always plentiful and we never went hungry, there were no queues or waiting around and the hotel never ran out of food! I may also add the cocktails are definitely worth a try!

I read a review saying that taxis were €20? This is rubbish, a taxi into Zante was €7 maximum and into Tsilivi €10. It's a 15 minute walk into Zante town, but I wouldn't recommend walking at night as it's up a hill without any lighting.

What else? WIFI; the hotel has 4 wifi hotspots and it is available all over the hotel. I was unable to connect from my room, but as soon as I left the room is was available. Had no troubles there.

The Staff are incredible; every member is so helpful, polite and happy it's a lovely atmosphere. They work such long hours and are always smiling, they're lovely!

I really recommend this hotel; it's not the finished product, but it doesn't advertise to be! The mini golf and tennis courts aren't finished yet but they will be shortly. All in all, a lovely holiday, lovely food, amazing views and loveable staff! Thanks for a great holiday!

My husband and I and our 2 grown up sons stayed here 3-10 August. We paid extra for sea view which was well worth it - the view was fantastic over Zakynthos town and the harbour. Pool and sun terrace really lovely. Our rooms were more than adequate, although could have done with more drawer space. Very good little fridge in wardrobe. Towels changed daily plus free pool towels available from reception. Staff were brilliant - so friendly, welcoming and helpful. We enjoyed the food and sitting on the balcony for our evening meals - just couldn't get enough of the view! We stayed half board and there was a mini market just down the road from the hotel where we got water, fruit, humous, feta, etc for lunch, also 1.5L plastic bottles of local white wine for 3 euros, which was (surprisingly) ok. Had couple of trips into Zakynthos and one to Tsilivi beach in hotel minibus. Little to do on an evening but not a problem for us - we sat on our balcony and played bananagrams. Overall, it was a wonderful, peaceful, relaxing holiday in a lovely hotel with views to die for.

Room Tip: Recommend sea view room.

Me and my partner stayed here for 10 days from the 14th aug, and what can I say, the hotel was fantastic and the views amazing but even more so were the staff, they really did go out of their way to please and nothing was too much trouble.
As for the pool area it was lovely, there were more than enough sunbeds all throughout day but parasols were in short supply as at the beginning of our stay there were 8 and when we left there were 5 this was due winds blowing them over and breaking them but this had no effect on our experiance.
The food was very nice and plentiful and the drinks (especially the cocktails) were very good too.
We would definatly return to this hotel we had an amazing time here and its worth paying the little extra for a sea view room and again the staff really are amazing!

I hope the hotel reads these reviews because they are not bad reviews, just some very good advice which could make this hotel as excellent as it promises to be.

We went summer 2014 and the hotel wasn't finished. Builders were still finishing the 4th floor rooms during our stay so lots of banging, the tennis court and crazy golf were half built, the second pool was half built along with a number of individual rooms with separate infinity pools, all a long way off being completed and looked like a building site. That being said, im sure by summer 2015, they'll be complete and probably be excellent

Rooms
They are perfectly fine. Very basic but clean. We had a room on the 3rd floor facing the main land and it was quiet and plenty of shade. Take your own hairdryer though because they only provide a wall fixed unit which is so weak its useless and burns your hand. They never re-fill the shower gel in the shower either so make sure you have your own. Our main problems with the room however were the showers and the TV. The shower heads are so old and aren't adjustable so it either dribbles or blasts horizontally to the back wall without touching you. All the hotel needs to do is buy so cheap new adjustable shower heads and it would be fine. The TV's have very bad signal and only a few channels, none of which are English. Whilst you don't go on holiday to watch TV, its nice to have it on whilst you're getting ready for dinner or before you go to sleep, but there is nothing for the English. Again, all the hotel needs to do is invest in sky or similar and they would get much better reviews.

Food
I hate to say it, but we agree with everything everyone else is saying. There is so little choice it is untrue. The salads were simply one bowlful of mixed salad with some separate onions and cucumber. They needs to visit some other hotels to see what they do, or simply "google" salad bar and look at the images. They also mix lots of meat and fish into the mixed salad bowl with sauces and dressings, so there isn't even a salad option for vegetarians. If your reading this Avalon, please expand your salad bar. Salad isn't expensive and is a popular choice for visitors coming to Greece.

Some of the cooked food is ok, but there is very little choice, and there wasn't enough of it. They kept running out of food and people were stood waiting for food at dinner, for 10-15 minutes sometimes whilst the chef cooked something different. The chef couldn't keep up. This was when the hotel wasn't fully occupied too so I hope it improves for 2015 onwards.

They need to provide more vegetarian options and better deserts, because the deserts were very poor.

All inclusive beer - it must be non-alcoholic because you could drink it all night and not feel a thing. It certainly wasn't Mythos. Probably another cheap beer to keep the hotel costs down at the expense of the guests. They did have better bears, but charged you extra for it.

Pool
The pool was very good. A beautiful setting at the top of the mountain. If we had one piece of advice to the hotel, cut the trees down in front of the pool because they block what is a stunning view over the town and bay.

I agree with a lot of other comments too, there are not enough sun umbrellas. There are about 5 that work, and 50 guests, so people coming to visit who are not used to the sun have no-where to sit in the shade. A hotel should be catering for its guests, not telling us to get used to the sun.

Evenings
They only have entertainment on one night of the week, Wednesday. Every other night is so boring its untrue. We went down to eat our meal, obviously waited ages until the chef to catch up, then went back to the room, and of the TV channels didn't work so straight to sleep. You couldn't even walk to the town centre because the road down the hill was a good 45 minutes walk down and on a dangerous road so unless you wanted to spend 20 euros on taxis every night, very little to do in the evenings.

Finally, I must mention the wonderful waiters and waitresses working at the hotel. The young girl called Vivienne in particular who had her 21st birthday there when we were there, is wonderful and made the very boring evenings bearable. She was so friendly and helpful and liked to share a joke with you. I hope the hotel rewards her for her excellent service.

If the hotel improved on the food and evening entertainment, and actually finished building the hotel, we would go back, so hope this helps not only other visitors but the hotel as well.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the sea have an utterly stunning view, but rooms facing the mountains are quiet and sha...

We have just returned from a 7 day stay here . We loved the photos both on this website and Jet 2 website . One thing is missing form the photos , the sun brollies . In both photos there are plenty however the reality is there were only 5 for the full hotel . The pool terrace is beautiful but no shade and the sun beats down ferociously and very unforgiving. If you were not up before 8am the 5 umbrellas were taken . This forced a number of holiday makers to hire cars, stay in the room balcony for shade. We asked the Jet 2 rep who was very nice and lived locally to ask the hotel to fetch more but to no avail . We then asked reception staff very nicely to go out and buy more for the guests , we were told no as it is a holiday in Greece . I then pointed out this was our holiday and was being spoiled by no shade . Please Jet 2 amend your website photos as they are not accurate . You will notice the poolside photo has a brolly next to every 2nd bed . Where are they ? Everyone has complained and nothing done by the hotel or Jet 2 .
The food is not great , and flies lie on th e melon and desserts , why are there no covers over this food . This stopped a number of guests not taking the desserts . The offers for vegetarians is poor , the answer in this hotel is fish , even a veggie lover is fed up with fish every day . The flies are on the salad also which is left uncovered . Staff Are nice however for genuine issues no assistance is offered , ie the brolly issue .this spoiled our holiday .......

Room Tip: Take the mountain view rooms as they are shaded throughout the day and lovely breezes on this side.

What can I say? We have had the best weeks holiday of our lives.
A little out of the way, but the hotel itself is fantastic. Beautifully renovated, modern, extremely clean. Rooms are spacious and spotless. Cleaner comes in daily, however we only had one change of bed the whole week, meaning a bed full of sand after daily beach visits!!

Staff are friendly, work extremely hard and long hours, they will do anything for you. Reception staff especially helpful, calling taxis, booking trips and giving info.

My advice (after a bad experience) is not to book the my tours boat trip from reception, the boat is tiny and you can't even sit on the top deck as it only allows 15 people which gets full instantly. We spent four hours trapped inside this boat and due to bad weather didn't even get to see the shipwreck! (Not their fault) plenty of places to book trips at the different resorts.

Tsivili beach, after reading mixed reviews before our stay, is beautiful. Sandy not gravel and crystal clear sea. Free transport daily from the hotel to here and town has been very handy.

The food is excellent, salads each night alongside four or five main hot dishes to choose from. Traditional Greek dishes, aswell as a mixture of something else (Chinese or Italian etc) but always one or two traditional well cooked Greek dishes.

The view is out of this world, calming and relaxing. If you stay here, walk or get a taxi to the top of bochali (15min walk) to the top of the hill with the lit up church. Lovely tavernas and a breath taking view.

We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and hope to come back one day

Lovely hotel with loads of potential and great staff. Very friendly and very helpful. Hotel very clean and immaculate but just needs the finishing touches to finish it off. Free towels for sunbeds, lovely pool, more beds arrived while we were there. Shuttle to beach and town and although out of town for 6 or 8 Euros you can go to the centre of Tsilivi which is a good beach and has a fantastic restaurant called Trenta Nove near the beach - fantastic food.

Hotel quiet after 11.00 so great if you want a relaxing time.

Tennis court and crazy golf need finishing off

Well recommended for a peaceful week

Room Tip: Get the sea view - amazing
