This campground was one of the better we've stayed at. They are dog friendly and it connects with many hiking trails, including the one that leads to the summit of Cadillac Mountain. You do need to buy your wood offsite (but there is plenty available for cheap in little lean-tos along the road) and showers are offsite as well. But the plots are large, the bathrooms are close, and the staff is friendly.
Book months ahead of time though, they fill up quickly.
