“Amazing”
Reviewed 29 June 2014

My wife and I stayed two nights as part of our American road trip. The location of the lodge is perfect with an amazing back drop of the Badlands. The cabins are absolutely perfect, spacious and private.

Check in was a little bit of a hassle but that turned out to be my fault. We turned up at 4:20pm only to be told the cabin wasn't ready. However, it turned out I forgotten to correct my watch by an hour and it was only 3:20pm.

The receptionist saw the funny side and we had a coffee while he sorted it out and sure enough 10 minutes later he came to us and said all was ready.

The Badlands rangers really make the place special however. Their visitor centre is right next door and they give evening presentations and on some nights star gazing talks with the aid of telescopes. Their enthusiasm is amazing and really made our stay special.

Then of course you have the amazing Badlands which is just such a special place.

Having read reviews of the restaurant at Cedar Pass Lodge we brought much of our food with is. The rooms have a good fridge and microwave and we enjoyed breakfast on the cabin patio.

We did eat once in the restaurant and it wasn't good. My bowl of chilli and French fries was luke warm at best and my wife's chicken wrap was bland. Service wasn't great either.

I would really love to stay at Cedar Pass Lodge again but would definitely bring my own supplies.

We had a long drive from Denver to Interior. This Cedar Pass Lodge was a good choice. Beautiful spacious new lodge. Tastefully decorated, very good beds. Our lodge had two terraces and we had a beautiful overlook at the Badlands. When we checked out they give us a free bag of ice with it. Next day we did some hiking in the Badlands and the scenic drive.

We stayed on the spur of the moment when we found out there were still vacancies that night. The service from the staff was exceptional, especially in the restaurant. We had stayed there about 4-5 years ago and felt the cabins were more than adequate and the view made it more than worthwhile. The cabins have been remodeled since our last trip and all I can say is wow! The beds are the most comfortable we had on the whole trip and the decor was just amazing. We will definitely stay again.

Room Tip: Ask for an East facing cabin so you can watch the sun rise.

We stayed for one night at Cedar Park Lodge. We were so happy with the cabins. There is a nice sitting area on both sides of your cabin area - we sat outside and took in the views and enjoyed a glass of wine. It was an easy walk to the restaurant for dinner; their Indian taco was very yummy and big (2 could share if moderate eaters). The gift shop there was interesting to look through, nice pieces. Our views from our cabin were nice. ....although a lightening storm did make it interesting to view for a bit. The TV worked well; and the beautiful wood ceiling and other touches in the cabin makes Cedar Lodge a wonderful place to stay.

Staff was nice and check-in was easy as well as very informative.

If you want to stay a night in Badlands National Park, highly recommend Cedar Park Lodge.

This is a great place to stay within the Park. The location is great. the cabins are new. They are beautiful on the inside. Our cabin was clean, except the floor. There is no carpet. It is a wood floor. The floor looked clean, but when we walked in our bare feet, you could feel the dirt under your feet. If it wasn't for the dirty floor, I would have rated this an excellent.

A wonderful place to stay. The spacious cabins are brand new. They have a great view and comfortable beds. Our stay was terrific! The lodge does not have any rooms, but has a decent dining room. There is no where else to eat as the town of Interior doesn't have any decent restaurants.

We were welcomed at the Reception desk by a really friendly guy who made sure we had everything we needed, We went over to the cabins, and the setting isn't really ideal. They are on three sides of a square, with porches front and back so you can either look at your car and neighbour or, ideally, the wonderful vista of the park. Unfortunately the vista from our porch was dominated by the building site across the way which is currently the visitor centre being renovated.

That said, turn your chair and you can see a bit more, and you are ideally placed to go out in the evening into the Badlands and see the amazing sunsets, the lightning storms flashing around the rocks, and the beautiful colours revealed by the changing light.

The cabin itself was very comfortable, and we enjoyed our stay. Its a short walk to the Cedar Pass restaurant, which served a good dinner and an average breakfast.

Do book ahead - there are only a few cabins here and a few more and a lodge elsewhere in the Park, and already this early in the season they were fully booked and turning potential guests away. Definitely the best deal if you're planning to visit the Badlands - you will need to be there more than one day!
