The Inn at Death Valley
Reviewed 4 May 2014 via mobile

Having left the full-on bright lights of Las Vegas, which I absolutely love, this was a total contrast and an unexpected oasis in the middle of Death Valley. Just 2.5 hours out of Vegas and you're in another world. You feel like you've stepped back in time to a wild western and it's brilliant fun.
We stayed at the ranch for 1 night as our stop between Las Vegas and PCH and weren't really expecting much, but there's loads to do on site. There's a museum, which we didn't venture into as we were enjoying the pool, a couple of restaurants, a bar, a shop and even a post office. It's a whole town in the desert.
The rooms are clean and comfortable, though slightly dated; however, the bathrooms are much nicer. And as an added bonus, this is part of an ecological chain, using amazing products in the shower and promoting recycling, by not having small individually packaged shower gel, shampoo, soaps etc.
We had lunch in the bar - just a hot dog, but it was delish; dinner in the restaurant serving steak and not much else (but it was an amazing steak, cooked to perfection) and breakfast in the diner, which had a good selection. All were excellent value - we were anticipating paying much higher prices simply due to the location (literally the only place for miles).
I went for a walk around the ranch early in the morning while most things were shut and it has a magical feeling. Great time to get pictures of the sun rising high over the artifacts in the museum garden and out the front of the ranch.
Perfect for an unusual break in a beautiful valley.

We stated at the Ranch. It is a good location to reach Zabriskie Point, Badwater, Dante's View, Artist's Drive and the Devil's golf course.

Rooms at the Ranch come with 2 queen beds. If you are looking for a king size bed go to the Inn. The rooms are air conditioned, have free Wifi, and mini refrigerator. Rooms are very clean.and are a comfortable place to rest at the end of the day. The rooms are very basic, no frills.

The restaurants over charge but you have a variety to choose from.

Our check in took about a half hour as we came at check in time, along with many others and the front desk is under staffed.

Really surprised how good this place was. Comfortable rooms that were a class above other National Park hotels we have stayed in.
There was eating choice too, with a great atmosphere in the bar and good food too. Why did everyone disappear at 9 though?

We had a wonderful experience recently at the Furnace Creek Inn. My traveling companion has a very painful ear injury that makes him highly sensitive to noise, so much so that it is nearly impossible for him to travel. We decided to visit Death Valley National Park as we thought the remote location would make for a very quiet environment.

As we have found, it is nearly impossible to escape noise entirely, particularly when it comes to hotel accommodations. The staff of the Inn went above and beyond the call of duty on our behalf. The room we originally booked wasn’t quite quiet enough, so they moved us to one where my partner could finally relax in complete, pain-free comfort. Lovely view of the palm garden and the mountains beyond, too. The hotel’s front desk staff, bellmen, and wait staff were also accommodating and very thoughtful—they even turned down the music in the dining room at breakfast for us (and the food was wonderful). The Inn also has a beautiful swimming pool, which we had all to ourselves!

Room Tip: Get a room on the side overlooking the date palms garden, facing west, with a balcony. There are som...

After our disappointing and frustrating experience at Bellagio in Las Vegas we were so happy to "land" at Furnace Creek Inn.
The place in itself is magic, a kind of oasis in the desert. The reception is warm and personal, you feel welcomed and taken care of. The rooms are pretty and the beds soft and nice; all you need is there (fridge, coffee machine, complimentary drinking water). Special requests are made possible, like dining outside in spite of all the restaurant tables being taken, the food is good and the service impeccable.
Brief: One of the best parts of our trip. Expensive, yes, but worth every cent.
Don't book only one night, there is too much to do and see around...

on our road trip we had one night in this hotel. Death Valley is definitely worth seeing and this was one of the not so many option to stay the night before heading to the Yosemite. the room was nice at first, it had a little terrace and we were facing the golf course. unfortunately we had a storm and also rain so it was rather unpleasant which can't be helped. we went out for dinner and we just ordered a simple burger. the food was cold when it arrived and the service wasn't the best either. never the less we were hungry so we got on with it. once back in the room wanting to take a shower a massive (huge!) cockroach ran across the sink. I understand that can happen but it did freaked me out a little. it disappeared behind the sink. 5 mins later another one in the shower. we rang the reception and someone came around very quick. he had a look and explained us some things about it. the next morning it was back on the floor when we got up. in the end I was more than happy to leave that place.
