“What a wonderful place!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 June 2014

My wife and I have just returned to England after a wonderful month spent touring and staying in hotels in California. Most if not all of the hotels we stayed at were predictably first class but one or two were just fabulous - The Furness Creek Ranch being one of those.

For a stay in any hotel to reach '5 stars' the overall experience needs to be complete - with this hotel we found the bedroom to be quiet (we had requested that beforehand), the whole site is relaxing and tastfully furnished with a lovely ambience. The hotel staff we met were superb and nothing was too much trouble. I have singled out some individuals here for praise as they worked so hard to ensure that we had a great stay, these are as follows:-
Wesley - The bar:-
*********************
Wes and my wife and I found him to be so professional, courteous and so keen to ensure that our stay was a memorable one - thank you Wes for all that you did for us to ensure this was the case. Wes works with another member of staff in the bar and the bar is so popular that they both work so hard in there all night long - this doesn't affect their courteous manner.
The reception staff were brilliant, work very hard, have such a professional manner and really do need to receive praise for what they do in also looking after their guests.

Richard - The Ranch manager:-
************************************
My wife and I had the pleasure of meeting with the hotel manager - Richard - we both found him to be extreemely professional, courteous and nothing was too much trouble for him - he really made us feel like 'royalty'. Thank you Rick.............

The Inn is ideally located for those wishing to enjoy the sights of Death Valley and also for those wishing to do some trecking out.

My wife and I had the pleasure of dining at the hotel restaurant and you will certainly enjoy the lunches and breakfasts!! The food range is so extensive and, again, the staff are so attentive loking to serve your every culinary need.

I encourage you to stay at The Ranch so that you to can appreciate why I think this hotel and it's staff are simply outstanding. This is perhaps one of the best hotels we've every stayed in but don't take my word for it - go stay there. You won't be dissapointed!!

Stayed one night as stopover on journey from Grand Canyon to Yosemite.
Had booked ranch in ignorance of alternative option of the Inn.
No regrets in doing so. Extremely pleasant stay in cabin. Excellent meal in steakhouse. In fact, on advise of staff, shared a steak between the two of us. More than enough for the two.
Not quite sure what one would do here for more than one or two nights, Day time temp in June was 118F.

Stayed in a cabin at the Ranch for one night in Death Valley. Yes, the room is small, and very basic, but it's also part if the experience.....very rustic. The bed was pretty comfortable, the room was clean, and sitting outside in the chairs looking at the stars and moon was priceless.

We did a road trip stopping in Death Valley with some friends. All moms and kids over spring break. Wasn't expecting Death VAlley to be the highlight of the trip, but actually it was fascinating, and Furnace Creek Ranch was a very pleasant surprise. Great place to stay with kids: really large, nice swimming pool, which you'll appreciate after hiking in Death Valley, spacious lawns where the kids played soccer, baseball, etc. after we'd spent the day hiking, very nice playground structures for younger kids. All the water for the pool, lawns, comes from a local spring. Restaurant is very decent -- pretty basic grill type menu, but that's what you'd expect, it's a long way to transport food out there -- but good, very kid friendly. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Many of them are people who work part of every year in Death Valley and know a lot about the region. The museum of local history which is onsite is pretty good, we spent about an hour there and the kids were engaged and interested the whole time. Ice creams on the patio were nice for the kids in the evening, there is also a bar opening onto the patio for adults. A separate breakfast buffet gives you a little bit lower cost option for a quick breakfast. Furnace Creek Inn, close by, is a little more upscale and i think less family oriented; can't say much about it 'cause we only drove through briefly. But Furnace Creek Ranch is a great place to stay with kids and explore a really unique desert environment.

We spent one night here in May 2014. After driving for hours through Death Valley suddenly some palm trees and other plants appear. This ranch is located in the middle of the desert which makes it a one of a kind experience. We had a room in the back of the ranch, overlooking the golf course. We had a great nights sleep; beds were comfy, the room and bathroom was clean. Price for the food/drinks was OK, maybe a little pricy but what do you expect?
The water in the pool was just right. It was refreshing after a day of driving. Would recommend!

We arrived late afternoon on our second day in the U.S.A. So after checking in made our way to the Corkscrew Bar for a welcome beer and stayed all evening.

After a good breakfast at the restaurant we headed out for the wonders of Death Valley.

A great. Day and again an evening in the bar.

Second day we went to The Racetrack with Jay from the jeep rental company.

Left on our third morning after a lovely breakfast, stopping off at the sand dunes.

Can not fault Furnace Creek Ranch for hospitality, we shall return .

Death Valley in the winter is delightful. Explore, play a round of golf, enjoy the view from Dante's. The summer is a different story. This place gets really hot. 125 degrees Fahrenheit (52 degrees Celsius) is Common in July. For some reason Europeans love it? If you go in summer, drink a lot of water and don't wander around alone. Make sure you have a reliable vehicle. People die out there. A great place to stay is in a cabin at Furnace Creek Ranch. They are rustic, have individual porches with rocking chairs, and are inexpensive. When you book on the internet, scroll down past the expensive rooms to find the cabins. Use Promo code, BNB, to get a good Bed and Breakfast deal. The Wrangler Buffett is good! Another good place for breakfast is Furnace Creek Inn. Get there around 7:00AM for a window table. I like dinner at the 49er Café. The other places are too expensive. Death Valley is one of the jewels of the United States. Don't miss it, but use common sense in the summer.
