“115degF but we comfortable survived”

We are not used to these sort of temperatures but at least it was a dry heat. Furnace Creek Ranch was an ideal spot for us to get a good meal and a good night's rest on our way to California. The room was fine although the air conditioning was a bit noisy and seemed to be struggling to cope. It also leaked a little making wet patch on the carpet until I turned up the thermostatic control but I don't want to overstate the problem.
We found the meal very enjoyable with a very good selection from the salad bar (take as much as you like) and the service also very good. There was also a general store and a gas station albeit somewhat expensive.
We liked the display of old mining exhibits outside.
Death Valley is a unique experience and maybe we should have stayed longer. If you do, this is a good place to use as your base.

We stayed for one night on our way to Vegas in July. Starting with the obvious if you go in the middle of summer it is hot, very very hot. It was 127 when we went and there is a really hot wind. It's like standing in front of your open oven door. The inn is a great place to stay as long as you prepare yourself for the heat. The rooms are in blocks, most two story some one story. Each room has a balcony with two rocking chairs on and a bathroom. The room blocks are set with nice green garden areas, or overlooking a golf course. There is a large on site swimming pool which like everything there is very warm. It's a good size with sunbeds. There is also a restaurant (which we did not try so can't comment) and a bar, which also does snack type food. We did eat in the bar and you need to realise with a captive audience food and drink are more expensive. They also have a shop with the usual souvenirs. Everywhere is nice and clean. It's a great place to stay and we would not hesitate to stay here again. We only stayed one night and I'm not sure in the height of summer you would want to spend much longer, we went to the pool at 8:30am and left by 10:00 as it gets to hot. Likewise you would not want to walk around Death Valley during the day, so one night seems enough. Out of the hot summer it may be different. Don't forget to look at the stars at night, you get the best view ever as there is no light pollution. We liked furnace creek and would recommend it to anyone. If you are driving here from yosemite then you are in for a treat, the changing scenery is as the Americans would say "awesome" , we loved it.

We are definitely going back to this hotel as we only had time for one night. The temperature was very high but there was air conditioning in the room. We had an excellent meal in the restaurant and the staff went the extra mile to recommend food and drinks. There was a golf course, horse riding and a very interesting museum all of which needed time to do justice to. We experienced wild life (5 coyote or foxes ) playing on the golf course as we sat on our rocking chairs on the balcony early in the morning.

Room Tip: Overlooking the golf course was quiet and picturesque

Luckily for us, we arrived at the Inn on the dot of 4 pm, before the queue formed, to checked into two (small) rooms with views of the car park, by a rather surly receptionist. Very small, old lift! The pool was very welcome, just like taking a warm bath. Steps down to the pool area were somewhat slippy, and my daughter fell, despite her care. Poor showers - took an age to wash the shampoo from my hair. Rooms were clean, communal areas were not. My husband got a fizzing noise and an electric shock from his bedside lamp when he switched it on. Bar girl was lovely. Now, the buffet. Rather rude man was policing the entrance here, and insisted we pay before we ate. $38 each. 15% gratuity - no idea what for. At least the view was good, as the food and service were awful; my son compared it to his school dinners. Please avoid! We went to bed hungry. After a restless night - noisy air con and uncomfortable bed - we went in search of breakfast. You need to go to the Ranch for this. After the previous nights experience, we asked to actually see the buffet first, which contained all the usual fare that you would expect, lucky for us, as we were starving! Lovely waitress. Go to the Ranch, not the Inn!

Room Tip: Go to the Ranch!

Absolutely fine. Good hotel. Air conditioning was struggling to keep the room cool but it is hardly surprising given the temperature (it was still 46 degrees at 9pm!). We ate in one of the restaurants on the site, very average but the staff did their best to please everyone. Death Valley is "awesome"! And yes we would definitely consider visit the Death Valley again and stay at "Furnace Creek Ranch".

Great place to stay during your visit to Death Valley. Nice, clean, spacious rooms. Friendly staff. Dropped off our luggage and went for a ride in the desert. Needless to say it was a real pleasure to go back to our cool room.

Stayed here in June 2014. We were given a Standard room on the second floor, in one of the two story buildings in the back of the resort. There are no elevators which is something to consider if you have difficulties walking up stairs.
Luckily our room was pleasantly cool inside. It was spacious, with two very comfortable queen beds, and a TV. Our room faced north with a view of the adjacent building. We had a nice balcony with two rocking chairs, unfortunately it was so hot and windy outside that we could not enjoy sitting there. The pool area is very nice, and it was very near our building; we walked there to see it, but did not use it. Near the pool there is a small outdoor museum with many interesting machinery and equipment from the mining years around the area. There are a couple of restaurants in the resort but they are a tad pricey. If on a tight budget, then I suggest grabbing something to eat from the General Store by the entrance. They sell sandwiches, chips and drinks along with souvenirs and some clothing items. One night at the Death Valley was enough for us. This park although beautiful, is just very, very, very hot for our taste.
