“Good service, good beer, decent food”

We weren't expecting much, but we ended up very happy with the Corkscrew. It's a nice place to unwind with a beer and some fries after a long day of hiking. The Badwater Ale on tap is excellent. The food is fine--nothing terribly special, but certainly much better than they could get away with given the relative lack of competition. The service we had was always prompt and very friendly.

Enjoyed the meal cooked just the way I asked for It. little short on vegetables maybe I should have ordered them as a side. Not sure what the manager was doing making some sort of minor drama in the bar.Bit of a amateur performance reminded me of Basil Faulty. Fun overall atmosphere.

Like everyone else says, there is not a whole lot of choice when staying in Furnace Creek. We opted for this place, because it was the most casual and relaxed feeling. The steakhouse sounded like too much food and was too pricey for our mood. The other place didn't sound bad, but looked too much like a Denny's or something (bright, airy, filled with kids, etc.). So Corkscrew it was. I had the burger, which honestly was pretty good - big and flavorful. My wife had a Caesar salad with chicken, and didn't care for it too much, said the chicken was tough and didn't taste fresh. The next night, she tried to get chicken fingers, figuring "who could possibly screw up chicken fingers?" I mean it's out of the freezer into the deep fryer - how simple, right? But these were burned to a crisp, and rubbery - she couldn't even cut them with a knife. She sent them back and ordered the chili....well, tried to - the server mentioned that it wasn't made in house, and suggested she taste it before ordering it (which was smart, and very nice). When the taste came out, it was clear that it was chili from a can (Hormel, I think). She ended up ordering a side salad for dinner and wasn't very happy with it.

All in all, the beer was cold and the atmosphere was a fun, casual bar-environment. My burger was tasty...but my wife had real problems finding something good to eat. The bar in Stovepipe Wells Village is a much, much better dining choice.

Went to get piza Togo. Children not allowed to wait in bar. Pizza quick, but good. Added 15% gratuity to bill, despite being to go. Initially refused to remove from bill, saying that how else do you think they get anyone to work especially as you Europeans don't tip.

Staying at the ranch in Furnace creek we went in for one drink.....after a couple more, we decided we had to eat. Staff were great and provided great service and really good honest pub-food. Burgers, pizzas, ribs etc. Great local beers although the stout was a bit odd. We did try the rest though and they were all great. No hangover either, although no guarantee for that!
