Owner description: Enjoy a warm welcome and experience a true Alaskan lifestyle at Husky Homestead—home of Iditarod Champion, Jeff King. Husky Homestead is widely heralded as an authentic look into rural lifestyles based on 40 years of Alaskan adventures: from freight hauling on Denali to crossing the finish line in Nome, Alaska with a champion Iditarod team. Cuddle puppies upon arrival and share an intimate view of the Alaskan Husky as the team explodes from the dog yard and runs on our treadmill before hitting the trail for a training run. Get a behind-the-scenes look at what goes into creating a championship team and carving a life in Alaska's Interior. Hear compelling stories from the trail and see actual racing sleds, arctic survival gear and equipment used to traverse 1100 miles of Alaska's most rugged terrain. Our 2017 tour season begins May 10th and ends on September 21st. Special Note(s): Dress in warm layers. Wear comfortable walking shoes. Bring a jacket, gloves and a hat. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by parent or guardian. Outside portion of this tour is approximately 45 minutes, inside portion is approximately 45 minutes. We look forward to meeting you!

Great learning experience from Jeff and all his staff. It is easy to see that everyone there loves their job and the dogs they care for and train. The puppies were, of course, also very cute and I am not even a large fan of dogs. Jeff's talk was also informative as we knew nothing about the race beforehand. Overall a nice experience and a well organized trip to get there and back, even with the bus almost hitting a moose on the way back.

Informative and fun, great for kids. Jeff King puts on a great show and the kids love holding the puppies.

This was an available excursion while in Denali and is great activity to see. They run an entertaining tour of the sled dog facility allowing you to pet and hold the puppies, get demonstration of sled dog training, and learn a lot about sled dog racing by a true expert.

Yes, the puppies were a highlight and Jeff King was informative. The bench seating was very uncomfortable for the length of time we had to sit on them. Jeff used quite a few obscenities while he spoke, so parents and others who aren't fond of that beware.

Thank you for your review, Home28! We have been researching options for cushioning our benches to make them more comfortable for our visitors during the approximate 45 minutes that they are seated inside our Theater for the second half of our presentation. We thank you for your input and hope to have more comfortable seating in the near future for our guests.
Happy Trails!
Carrie
