The scenery and wildlife was amazing when the bus was moving or stopped.

The "school buses" leave much to be desired! The first one we had broke down, it was replaced and that one broke down. The third one limped along to the end. We sat in the hot sun on the bus for over an hour waiting for a replacement while buses passed us. I honestly think our group would have been happy to split up to get back to civilization on the buses that were running. I think there needs to be an alternate plan in place and/or the buses need to be serviced and not tinkered with by the bus drivers to keep them running. A little more mechanical attention needs to be given to the buses... the consumers are paying to see the park. This is not a free ride.

The buses are full, reserve early. If you have a good driver, try to tip, their patter is an extra they do not have to provide. The center personnel were very helpful, the restrooms clean, and good prices on the tshirts. There were some good books available. Even in the summer, it can be cold, so buy a coffee, sit back, and enjoy the ride.

They get visitors in and out by the busload. Like a busy bus depot. Use their modern bathrooms, as the "pot toilets" are an hr or more apart. Got a Starbucks too. Nice to have a Venti Latte for the ride. Snacks too. Full buses, so reserve in advance, on line or by phone

The center itself had snacks, hot and cold drinks and pamphlets/books for sale. We met here for the Shuttle tour into Denali Park. No one said that when you returned the WAC would be closed with no way to contact the hotel for a pickup ride. We stood in the rain (no covered shelter where they pick you up) waiting for the hotel shuttle. So be prepared next season.

we took the Tundra Wilderness Tour thru the Park on a school bus as this is the only transportation the park allows. We were gone for about 6 hours and though this is a bit long on a school bus (not your most comfortable transportation ever!) we saw a lot of beautiful scenery and quite a few animals in the wild like bear and her cubs, Dahl sheep, caribou and a magpie.
