Description: The Perch offers you cozy, private cabins, hotel rooms and lodging near Denali National Park. Tucked into the woods and bordered by pristine Carlo Creek, our cabins offer you an Alaskan experience that is truly unique.Tree-top dining at the Perch Restaurant is a wonderful way to begin and end your day. The restaurant is “perched” atop a gravel moraine left by a glacier. Each of our 13 bay windows has a spectacular view of the Alaska range and it's many glaciers. Weather permitting, you can dine on our large deck, or just sit out in the sun and enjoy a cocktail while you wait for dinner.

This is a great little place, called The Perch not as in fish but as in perched high up in the tree tops, you quite literally look out of the window at the top of the trees! We had an excellent meal, the crab & sweetcorn soup in duck broth was so tasty as was the caribou with crushed juniper. Made a real change for the steak and burger offerings elsewhere. Our host was friendly and chatty and we had a really enjoyable evening. Would highly recommend.

We ate breakfast at the restaurant, which was slightly pricey but really good. The atmosphere is comparable to a classy mountain resort- wood interior, nice showcase of liquor, with couches as well as tables. I was really impressed with the service- the waiter (owner?) was extremely courteous and attentive.

The cabins are lovely, comfortable and clean. And it's only a few miles down the road to the Denali Wilderness Access Centre. Very convenient.

My daughter & I had dinner at the Perch Restaurant. My daughter couldn't find a menu item she wanted (she doesn't eat red meat) and asked Joshua if she could have a salad with a small amount of chicken. She was told they didn't have any chicken - only fish. If she wanted salad & fish, that meant the menu item with salad & a (larger) piece of fish. Which she declined. She ended up with a small bowl of salad for dinner which seemed a bit expensive for what it was. Even for Alaska.

Look, I'm sure Joshua had his reasons - please tell us Joshua if you read this. But for a nice restaurant with so many happy customers, why did this happen ? We left wondering where had customer service gone ? Why was it too hard to create what would have been a child's portion ?

PS. Joshua said he would deduct a percentage off the my daughter's bill in recognition of our unhappy experience.

I stayed here about a week ago and never wanted to leave. This place is secluded, yet set on a beautiful Creek with several other little cabins and an amazing restaurant on site. Joshua and his wife were so welcoming, polite, and helpful. The dinner was absolutely delicious with many unique items to choose from. Josh's brother did breakfast which was also delicious. There is also Panorama pizza pub in walking distance which is also delicious, serving late night $1 pizza slices. Couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. It was cozy, with nice quilts, unique Alaskan log furniture, delicious food, very clean, a short 15 min drive to the park. I found this place on accident when booking my trip and now I will be sure to stay here again when I come back. They are only open during park season (usually April or may to September). They have a website denaliperchresort.com which has pictures of all the cabins, menus, pricing and availability, booking online, etc. seriously HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!! Would never go anywhere else again after staying here. Decently priced as well. Thanks Josh and family,

Karen

Fortunately, our tour guide was aware of this restaurant or we wouldn't have had the treat of dining here. The meal, beer and service were great. And the view from the deck was spectacular. The mosquitoes were enjoying the view and the viewers, as well, so we limited our time there.. The owner and his wife have done a tremendous job of creating a beautiful and wonderful restaurant. A visit here is well worth your time and money.
