“Great food and drinks”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 May 2014

Stopped on our way back to Anchorage from Fairbanks. I had a hard time deciding there were so many good things on the menu. I was really in the mood for some fish and chips, but decided on the elk burger. Delicious huge fresh burger, great waffle fries. My husband got the fish and chips and they were great also. Our waitress was great, kept checking on us. Look forward to stopping again next time we're passing through.

Hello,
Thank you for your kind words! We're glad to hear you enjoyed your time at The Bake. This being our 30th Anniversary, we are reminded that the Bake made it through the early years because of people like you traveling back and forth along the Parks Hwy. Thank you for your patronage and for choosing to support local business. See you next time!

“Below average food for a supposed fish restaurant.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 May 2014 via mobile

Wife and I ate dinner here last night. Wife loves Salmon, ordered cedar plank, came out good portion, but flavor just so, so. Seasoning nothing special. I ordered the Halibut fish and chips, fish and waffle fries over done. Taste okay ,but not worth the price . Salmon plate $28.00, fish and chips , $24.00 , expect a little but more from a place know for its fish dishes.

Hello, we would like to thank you for writing this review. Because of your feedback, we were able to immediately address the issue. Our staff, though capable, was still adjusting to their new job and had been missing a step in seasoning. We apologize for receiving less than our best. We hope that the rest of your vacation was enjoyable and that this error on our part was not too off-putting.

“Excellent food for a nice informal meal”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 May 2014

Very cozy place with basic but good options, and excellent choice of local beer.
It has probably the best environment in the area (unless you go nearby to 49th state, but that's miles away).
Staff is very friendly.
Recommending the elk sliders, and the seafood chowder.
Also, they have quite typical stuff like halibut and chips, and salmon burger.
If you are in the area, this is the place to stop for a beer or a meal.

Thank you for taking a moment to write about The Bake! We love getting feedback from our guests. You mentioned the elk sliders; we source our elk from a locally owned Alaskan business that works with native tribes that subsisted on herding elk for generations. We're very proud to serve that product and are glad to hear you liked it.
Thanks again for your review!

“best avoided”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 May 2014

if you look at my reviews you can see that I am NOT very critical. I give lots of 4 & 5 stars. I just can't do that here. We took a trip to Denali to go to 229 parks, but it was closed. we went to the salmon bake instead and got a pretty subpar meal. I got King Crab crusted salmon and the middle of the salmon was very undercooked. 2 in my
party got king salmon burgers and they were both dry. They forgot our appetizer, and my wife fish tasted pretty grainy. It was the halibut tacos. I like the seafood chowder, but it doesn't make up for lack luster service and food which cost us $130.00 for 4 people

Hello, we apologize that you didn't receive our normally top-quality seafood. We pride ourselves on consistency and quality but clearly we missed the mark with you. We hope the rest of your trip went well and that you enjoyed your time in Alaska.
Again, our sincere apologies. Thank you for your feedback.

“Lots of food”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 May 2014 via mobile

This was the 3rd of their 3 restaurants we ate at. I liked 49th State and Prospectors better. It was FREEZING inside. 53F outside, not too bad for May but shut the door and maybe turn on some heat. Colder inside than out. Food was okay, but we will eat somewhere else next time.

Hello,
We're sorry to hear you didn't have the best experience possible at The Bake. The building can be drafty and we apologize if the heat was not high enough. We aim for 100% success and regret that you did not experience that. Thank you very much for your feedback.
