“Salmon and elk burgers...yummy”
Reviewed 8 June 2014

You read about the slope in the floor...well it is definitely true...so much you almost have to hold your food on the table. But that and the good food make it memorable. The view outside is not too shabby either. We had the salmon and the elk burgers. Both were good but the elk was awesome!

Glad to hear you enjoyed your visit. We are a quirky place. The -70 winters over the last 30 years has definitely created a building that can not be duplicated. Thanks for taking the time to write about The Bake and share your experience. All the best!

“Great Elk Burgers and Waffle Fries”
Reviewed 8 June 2014 via mobile

We had some wonderful elk burgers with waffle fries at the Salmon Bake. The restaurant is funky with non-level stairs to the upstairs bar. The bartender and staff are super friendly. This is a fun place. Live music during the evenings and a happening place at night (though it has little competition).

Glad to hear you had a great time! Our elk is really popular. We source it from a local Alaskan business that works with the native tribes that have subsisted on herding elk for generations. We thank you for your review and for your patronage. Cheers!

“Started off mediocre, but made right!”
Reviewed 7 June 2014

This is a regular restaurant with a regular menu, not one of the “salmon bakes” that are as prevalent in Alaska as luaus are in Hawaii.

Good selection of seafood along with some elk and reindeer, but you have to keep in mind that when you go to many establishments in a tourist area in Alaska in May the staff are mostly new and in training mode. Our service was pretty good, but the server either didn’t put our food order in or the kitchen lost it. Three other tables that came in after us were served long before us. When the server realized this (from our piercing glances?) he offered us free chowder while we waited (it was delicious). With further delay our server offered us free desserts and we countered with (and received) a free round of drinks.

When our food did arrive we enjoyed everything. It was all well prepared and presented and as with many restaurants in Alaska we were given French fry alternates of salad or fruit. All in all; very good service; décor with local flavor; and mediocre service that was made right!

Thank you for your thoughtful review. While hiccups in service do happen it's good to hear our staff recovered and, most importantly, that your were satisfied with your visit at The Bake. Thank you again for your review.

“Pleasantly Surprised”
Reviewed 6 June 2014

This was a very pleasant surprise in Denali. We ate upstairs in the bar and had a great experience. The food was awesome - don't miss the seafood chowder - and the beer was Ice Cold. They have a great selection of draft beers and the bar tender was very helpful in picking out a few "local" micro brews. The halibut sandwich was one of the best I've had, I would definitely go back here for lunch, dinner or happy hour anytime I'm in the area.

“Fantastic. Best restaurant within 20 miles”
Reviewed 5 June 2014 via mobile

We stayed at the Denali Park Village and managed to get a shuttle to this place as we were not happy with the choices we had.
We are so glad we came here. The first thing was how absolutely fantastic our server was, Sam S. She made our evening great. So attentive and really wanted us to be happy with everything we ate. My wife had the Salmon, which was a bit boney for her liking, evidently, thats how their Salmon comes. I had the halibut and it was wonderful. The veggies were a little over peppered and when our server saw that I didn't eat them, she immediately went into the kitchen and made them cook a fresh batch just for me. Wow! Didn't expect that.
Overall, the meal was great, the pricing was reasonable for Alaska and would definitely go back.
The building was rickety and rustic, which added fun to the evening.

Hello, thank you for your feedback! We are so lucky to have Sam on our team and we appreciate you telling us about her service. Funny you mentioned the "rickety" aspect. We're pretty sure there isn't a 90 degree angle in the building. This is our 30th Anniversary and the -70 winters have created a lot of character. We're glad you found it as fun as we do.
We hope you enjoy the rest of your Alaskan vacation! Cheers!
