Owner description: Word of mouth has that the more remote, harder to get to and therefore less crowded North Rim offers a more authentic Canyon experience and better views. However, there is no bus service on this rim and it is closed during the winter.

Amazing visit to the North Rim. Loved the ambiance of the Lodge, with its verandahs and view. Each of the various outlooks whether close to the lodge or further away had spectacular views; each with a little different perspective. I spent every sunrise and sunset at a different location trying to capture the magic of Mother Nature. Incredible place; hope to return again for a longer visit.

I surprised my wife with 2 nights in the old CCC Frontier cabins on the north rim , They are quiet, clean and have no special amenities like AC, phone or TV and thats just what we wanted. At almost 9000 ft AC isn't needed but a light wrap could be and walking is the best in all directions. The Formal dining room built in 1932 with it's panaramic windows is built right on the canyon edge and the food was excellent as was the service . It's said 95% of people go to the south rim so you can imagine how nice it is with the small crowds. There's a Saloon a deli and a junk store so it's all covered for the kids too.We awoke at 0430 on our last morning to catch the sunrise over the Canyon and it was just as spectacular as the sunset was the night before,Get a drink, grab a chair and sit back in Awe to enjoy Gods Fantastic Creation . We Did !!

Too many superlatives come to mind when trying to describe this amazing place. It has to be seen to be believed as photos just don't do it justice. We prefer the north rim over the south rim as the rock formations are more varied and it is less crowded.

The Grand Canyon North Rim is the best part of GC National Park. Higher and less crowded, we were delighted to find ourselves in high alpine forest and meadows in between exploring the viewpoints. The Drive on the Walhalla Plateau with its many vistas is not to be missed, and the Lodge atmosphere was very friendly, almost like hanging out with friends at an outdoor gathering, and the dining room food was good and the views spectacular. We've been to the south Rim, which is also stunning, but we preferred this more intimate and alpine experience that the North Rim offers.

The North Rim of the Grand Canyon is paradise: Little to no crowds, easy parking, stunning views, easy or challenging hikes (depending upon your preference), and multiple pull offs breathtaking overlooks. The weather is much cooler on the north rim than on the south rim. It was a pleasant 75 to 85 degrees each day that we were there (except below the rim... please read about the Kaibab Trail before venturing off on it!).

The park's buffalo are a major attraction as well. They hang out very near the road on the way into the park from Jacob Lake. Be sure to plan for a little extra time to pull off and watch for a while. Keep your cameras and video recorders handy.

No complaints, no concerns about this destination. It's remote, it's a long way from anywhere, but is is oh, SO worth it.
